George Carlin is dead

I was sad to hear the news earlier today. He was one of my all-time favourites and will truly be missed

damn, one of my most favorite comedians. 2nd time this happened. first with Mitch Hedburg, now with George. he will surely be missed. God, i loved his awesome rants.

Fuck no... you have to be kidding... this man is a great! His comedic stylings were one of the truly provocative... *sighs* He will definately be missed... LONG LIVE THE PILE!

I'm gonna park my car in my PARKway, enjoy my $h1t (stuff), and drink a toast to one of the truly great comedy minds and all from my understanding a genuine humanitarians of our times.

Thank you George for your satirical and timely wit.
You will be missed, and always appreciated,

J
Heart felt tears, and applause.

A very brilliant comic, though his profanity turned me off (And please, no flaming me over that. In previous debates I've held the position that you don't have to to be dirty/profane to be funny. George could do both, I just didn't like the path he chose...OK?).

The bizarre thing is my kids will know him as "Mr. Conductor" from "Shining Time Station"/Thomas the Tank Engine and not as the stand-up legend that he was.

this is a very sad period in america as one of the greatest is no longer with the hollywood brother or anyone else now. his comedy legacy will always be remembered and his record breaking 14 hbo specials are great too. the bottom line is that the hollywood brother feels this world lost a great voice

While I think he was a great comedian, I have to say the last performance I saw him in wasn't funny at all. All he did was rant and rave about how ugly the human race really was. No offense to Mr. Carlin but I didn't spend $150.00 for reasonably good seats just to be depressed. His other performances were just fine though. I wonder why he got so damn depressing late in his career?

I have to agree. I got turned off Carlin somewhere in the 90's. He just got too cynical and "bitter." As far as why? Who knows. People can and do change their views and continue to evolve in their way of thinking, no matter what age they may be. I may not care for Carlin's material in his later years, the classic Carlin was great, and no matter your preference, he was a terrific comic.

He was one of my favorites too with a similar sense of humour to me. He will be greatly missed.
