Getting an error

It says the videos weren't compressed right or something, how can I fix this?

Eh? What program did this appear in and with what file(s)? We need more information before we can attempt to correct the problem.

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.

Did you try to stream the clip (i.e. left-click on it in the thread it was located) instead of saving it to your hard drive and then playing it? If you are unsure, try right-clicking and saving the clip to your computer, and then open it from your hard drive.

That means one of 2 things..either 1, its a corrupt file and to just get rid of it cause it wont play in anything, or 2, it was labled with the wrong extention and could be either a quicktime file (.mov) or a real player file (.rm). The way to test which it is is to rename the file with .mov and try it in quicktime and then .rm and try it in real. if none of those 2 things work then its def the first thing i said 🙂

If you tell us:
1) what type of file you're trying to play (just say the extension-- .avi, .mov, .rm, or whatever), and
2) What kind of computer and what operating system you are using,

that will help us help you...

Some codecs are not available for some operating systems, and that means that some file simply are not going to play on your computer no matter what you do. Sometimes you can download some free applications to convert. It just depends.
