Hi,

This is another pic I did on the request for somone from DA. I think the pic speaks for itself.

I wanted to push the shading a little further on this one but it didn't turn out as good as I would have liked. I think I will need more work on layers and applying the burn and dodge more smoothly.

Criticism and critque encouraged.

Feathers,

I like how you drew the 'ler, but the expression of the 'lee could be more intense, it could have more life to it. I know, facial expressions are hard to draw, but you should practice those really hard and it'd make you a worthy artist whose work I enjoy watching. 🙂

Thanks a lot Captain! I will! 🙂 And who wouldn't enjoy it...heh heh.

Witproduct: I take your point-the facial expression are so crucial with any drawings. It is something that I will work on to make the tickle art more entertaining. Thanks for the kind words and the guidance. 🙂

The figure modeling is quite effective, the shadows providing nice depth (not sure what "burn and dodge" is... sounds like a computer-art term)! The recipient's flattening breasts supply a good sense of body weight, and each participant's attitude is well reflected. Rarely have I seen a tickler so content! The victim, likewise, seems to be striving for some sort of personal Nirvana... that's what the magic of tickling can achieve!

The lee REALLY looks like she's enjoying it...like it's relaxing...which, for me, if the tickling is light enough, it has a similar effect!

Well done!!!

Feathers,

I like the simplicity to picture, but that ends up creating problems too. For example, because the tickler's hands look limp, it's hard to tell how much effort she's putting into it. She looks rather bored or sleepy. I can see how you would want her to seem satisfied or content, but the body language implies other things. Likewise, the ticklee looks like she's expressing more emotion and laughter than the physical touching would imply. This is all mainly caused because of how the tickler's hands were drawn and her expression. It ends up confusing the level of intimacy or taking it out of proportion to the effort she's actually putting in.

One way you could correct this, for the next picture (fixing this one isn't necessary) is to draw the hands and fingers of the tickler in a way that motion, fluid motion is implied, or at least enough that they don't look limp and that no effort is being expended. If you wanted this to look like a gentle, slow tickling, its still possible to get that effect by proper placement of the fingers and hands. The satisfaction of tickling art pictured is most carried over by the tickler and their expression. By seeing that expression, we can then carry the weight of it over to the ticklee whom is experiencing it. By doing that you enhance the overall appearance and effect of the picture, and it would be much more pleasing to the eye.

You've made a good start, though. Keep going. 🙂

LBH - thanks for the words; I have started to add details of such things as body weight. Still have a way to go but its a start. 🙂

Camel26 - Glad you like it. Its nice to hear the mood is coming across a little bit. 🙂

Vladislaus Dracula: Thanks for the detailed tip Vlad; you've given me some good tips to improve my art and increase the satisfaction of those who look at it. Thanks for the encouragement. 😀

You're welcome. 🙂

You'll find as you become more experienced that in order for a picture to have that spark, the figures have to be in a position that takes maximum advantage of the angle we're viewing them at. Ultimately this requires an artist to think three dimensionally, but if you can do that much, then its really just a matter of practice.

You have been a great help! 🙂 🙂 I look forward to exceeding expectations.

Good job.

Here are some suggestions:

Colouring etc:

1) I would change the inside of the mouth color to black or dark red and colour in the space in between the thumb and 1st finger.
2) Add some shading below the end of the sleeves on the wrists and below the fingers on the foot as well. To show that sleeves and fingers have mass.
3) Zoom into parts of the artwork to fix little details. :super_hap I am doing it now and it helps alot. :super_hap

Character design:
My few cents worth:
1) shrink the nose on the lee or make it like the tickler to make it more feminine.
2) Narrow eyebrows and add eye lashes

But these are just things I would do to make the lee feminine. They are your characters. :super_hap

Paintshop Pro/ Gimp or other art program tips:

1) lineart or rough sketch on 1 layer at normal mode above default layer
2) flat colour layer at multiply mode above lineart/sketch layer (here you can use dodge/burn)
3) highlights or shadows layer above flat colour mode (multiply mode for shadows and screen for highlights) Try other modes eg soft light, hard light, color dodge, color burn, darken, lighten etc... too.

This way you don't color over the outlines eg hair

Great job on the poses. I find the lee pose particularly hard to draw.

Hope my suggestions help.
Great job overall. :super_hap

😀😀😀😀

Thanks for the suggestions Rajee - there is some really good stuff there! 😀

Glad to help. :super_hap Your very welcome. :super_hap

Raje, so sorry!!! I mistyped the emoticon. It was supposed to a happy smiling face.

🙂 🙂 🙂

Great work, Feathers! Very nice indeed! Tickled feet upside down is always splendid, don't you agree?
