Hey, was just wondering if there are any fans of the Dutch rock band Golden Earring out here in the tickling comunity. If so, let me know!

I like what I've heard over the years, but that's not very much. One or two songs, I think. (Bullet Hits the Bone and Radar Love, are they by Golden Earing?)

I didn't even know they were Dutch! Heck I might have heard more of their stuff and just not recognized it.

Yeah, what he said!

Those are two of my favorite songs as well, and I didn't know that they were Dutch, either. But I do know that they ROCK!!!!!!!

I remember those songs well. I didn't know it was a dutch band either.

I know Golden Earring has a career that dates back to the early 70s, they had an earlier version of the band in the late 60s under another name. And MTV used to play the hell out of "The Twilight Zone" video back in the 80s.

Golden Earring was one of my fave bands growing up. "Twilight Zone" is what introduced me to them and when I bought that LP "Cut" back then I was hooked! Found out at that time about "Radar Love" and other LP's they had and then bought everything they released up till the last release in the USA which was in 1986. That LP was kinda weak. But then I find out they never quit and have still been making albums in Holland and other areas and now have just released a new LP (or CD as you'd say now). In the 80's they almost had a hit as big as "Twilight Zone" but because of MTV banning the video after a few plays it didnt get what it deserved and it was a great track from the follow up LP to "Cut". The track was called "When The Lady Smiles". Video is fuckin great😀 Just gotta have a real sick sence of humor to find it funny..like most of the band's video clips. All around though they are one of my fave rock bands of all time! For anyone who's intrested heres a list of the singles that got released in the USA from the 4 LP's from the 80's:

Twilight Zone
The Devil Made Me Do It
When The Lady Smiles
Clear Night Moonlight
N.E.W.S.
Something Heavy Goin' Down (kick ass track this is!)
Quiet Eyes

TIB..of all people to know and like that great track!😀 I do recall a tickling clip of some kind being posted here like maybe 2 or 3 years ago when I first found this forum..totaly forgot about that! Don't remember much of the tickling clip or what it was, but I now remember I made a post (think it was my first post ever over here lol) about the song and no one knew what I was going on about😛 I'd like to see it again cause that song just rocks! One of my faves by Golden Earring also!

Just sent email..hope I emailed at the right place😛

Got the clip! That was a fuckin awsome promo for the site! Very creative having the photo stills flash and change on the snare drum hit kinda like how in the song video clip the scenes change like that. That's defenatly one of my fave Golden Earring tracks off of actualy my fave LP of theirs. It all rocks! Think im gonna pull it out and listen to the entire LP now😀 If people havent ever seen the clip that TC Videos made with this song wish there was a way to post it. Also, could let you all hear a sample of the track that was almost the follow up hit to "Twilight Zone".

Along with the two sole mentioned, I would add "The Devil Made Me Do It".

Good bad for sure.

Unfortunatly they were hot for a spell then........gone.
Much more than a "One hit wonder" they were but a flame that burned out quickly.
Guess they were only able to hold their fingers in the Dyke for just soooo long 😉 .

Their biggest time over here in America was of the period of 1982 - 1984. "The Devil Made Me Do It" unfortunatly floped for a single over here but I remember when I first bought that LP "Twilight Zone" was the only single and Devil Made Me Do it was the first song on the LP and I loved it and predicted it would be a single and it happened😀 When they released the single it was a different and slightly longer version I remember but they replaced the lines "bullshit" with "thanks alot" and "say what" LOL, was kinda dumb and ruiend the extended version but its a great rarity now. The follow up LP though "N.E.W.S." is my fave LP of theirs though while "Twilight Zone" is probably my top fave song of theirs from the previous album..make sence of that😛

Strange how songs will be hits in one area of the globe and a total flop in another. Different strokes(or in this case, tunes)for different folks.

I used to have a few of their records(albums even, yes albums! As in LP's! Remember those things?)most if not all were lost in a fire in the house I used to live in. Actually it was the aftermath and the water damage from putting OUT said fire. Couldn't tell or remember for that matter, which was my favorite. Perhaps I should venture into the local CD store and reload my collection.

For those of you on the West Coast....I remember back in the 80's(yes I can remember that far back, amazingly🙄 😱 😉 )there was a store that sold these black grooved disc shaped objects, called Licorice[Lick OR ish)Pizza. Loved that name for some reason. Unique at that time.
Unlike most other record stores who also sold cassetts, they only sold LP's(albums).

I won't EVEN get into 8 Track Tapes.:sowrong: :wow: :idontwann

I used to be so into 8-tracks back in the late 70s/early 80s, had all the records by The Doors, Blue Oyster Cult, and Jethro Tull on these weird plastic things that would cut songs in half so the tape could move to the next setting. Kind of annoying to hear "It's Not My Cross to Bear" by The Allman Brothers fade out in the middle, then fade back in.
As far as these "black grooved disc shaped objects", I still buy them, used AND new!

Drew.

Hey TTD, I got over 1000 vinyl LP's and 12" singles and thats where my Golden Earring collection is at. I managed through imports to get the first 2 of the 4 LP's of the 80's on CD ("Cut" and "N.E.W.S." which the 2nd as a bonus track has the rare B side to When The Lady Smiles on it). I had just the other day ordered the 3rd one from the Virgin Records Megastore on Holland import CD so I should have that in a few weeks😀 . I work with mainly only records for the most part and it's rare i'll buy a CD anymore. Im a DJ who spins underground classic disco music of the late 70's era (like not Bee Gees/top 40 pop type disco but studio 54 club disco stuff) and when I mix I use all those original 12' singles. Of corse I've still got all my vinyl I bought growing up in the 80s. Im a true music freak to the max! Like tickling is to my sex fetish music is to my main life😀 But anyway im vearing off the subject at hand here LOL. I do remember the record store Licorice Pizza, there was one in Philadelphia back in the time. Im a Philly native and spent most of my life there. I remember the only place I heard GE's "Devil Made Me Do It" aside from my LP and 45 w/the rare version was on the new wave station back then called "I 92 FM" (they changed to country music in the mid 80s:sowrong: ) And Drew, I still buy vinyl as well new and used (of corse for what I do I have to to hunt down those long gone 12" disco singles lol) and occationaly buy the rare rock stuff that I come accross now and then..I picked up a few years ago Peter Gabriel's "Security" LP sung entirly in German! Now thats a gem! Peter Gabriel is another one of my fave rock artists. As for 8 Tracks, I got some still!
