Alright mates

I'm looking for new songs to cover. The stuff I'm playing at the moment is getting stale and I know there's a lot of musicians on here so I'm wondering if anyone can recomend anything worth having a go at? I play acoustic. Nothing too flash mind, I'm very much a work in progress!

Ta very much 🙂

If I had a dollar for every band who covered Led Zeppelin... (who did have a few acoustic numbers in their repertoire - Battle of Evermore comes to mind).

If you're talking Led Zeppelin, you could do a lot worse than 'Black Mountain Side', as an instrumental song to cover!

It would depend on your interests I guess. I'm a work in progress as well, but for the longest time now I've been ridiculously addicted to MTV's Unplugged performances. And as a beginner, there are many legendary songs within them that are relatively easy to learn with a little commitment.

Maybe, the Bouncing Souls? They are a punk rock band with some nice melodic guitar riffs, especially their older material.

<div style="text-align: left;">I can tell from your screen name that you're already familiar with the best, and most popular, one of all to cover, Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah."

Memo to BizKit: You may want to add the following html command at the end of your signature:

"(You're) Having My Baby" by Paul Anka...how can you lose with a song like that?

You're going to want to pick something you can A. Reasonably play. B. Reasonably sing.

Pick an artist you have a similar vocal range with or if not, mess around with the song until it fits you. Covers are great, but carbon copies are boring (except if you're at a party and everyone's tryna sing along and whatnot).

Practice practice practice. I always just look at tabs online and never actually memorize a song, and then i feel lame when I cant make it seem effortless, without having to read something or think too hard.

Thats all the advice I can think of for now, and its not like I have any grammies sitting on my mantle, but just tried to think of what works for me.

Ok nice thanks for the feedback guys, gives me something to think about 🙂

Anniehall- totally agree with you about carbon copies being boring, I usually try to make a song my own and its kinda unavoidable when your voice is as um...raw as mine is. Goat work on the singing but yeah thanks again you lovely lot!

You should play "Street Angel" by Paul Sabu. Seriously obscure 80s glam rock. You could claim it as your own too. You'll make millions. Tell the rock and roll elite that Sticky sent you. 😉

Little Wing by Jimi Hendrix. Incredibly coverable song, just ask Stevie Ray Vaughan. Changed my life.

hmm When You're Gone - Avril Lavigne or Swing Life Away - Rise Against. They are simple to learn.
