So, I just graduated this past Sunday.

It is four days later and I have been nothing but utterly bored.

It may be because now my days have no routine but it makes me sad.

I wake up between eight and nine in the morning.

I hop on here until ten and then go watch Supernatural reruns until noon.

Then I'm back on here.

There is nowhere to go in my rinkydink town.

My friends live a good hour away and I do not drive.

What am I going to do for the rest of the SUMMER and then my life?

Ahhh..

Congrats on your Graduation 🙂
It's been nearly a year since I graduated from university and I think the time has just flown by considering how long it took for my final year to finish.
It was a bit of an anti climax when I finished I must admit. But then again I was working throughout my time at univerisity and then just went from part time to full time as soon as I finished my exams etc. So for me I didn't really get chance to have a break from it so to speak. However, I did feel what you are feeling right now back in November to March this year. I quit my job coz I hated it. I had never been out of work for so long and I really missed the routine. I turned to something I hadn't done in a while-which was writing. Then I decided to do a computer course (as it was free as I was actively looking for work)...coz I could use computers but didn't have the qualification to prove that I could. But by the time I started it I got a job so I decided to leave the course coz my job kinda took up most of my time.

So i guess my ideas are... maybe try and find a new or old hobby, learn to drive- so then you can see your mates more often, find a job-either paid or voluntary, take up another course either that's educational or for fun.

Or just make the most of the time that you have where you have no routine..you deserve a break after all your hard work. You might have a new routine again before you know it.

Anyways good luck with it. Hope you find something soon to occupy your time 🙂

first off congrats are on order!! you may not believe me but your in a pretty good spot. When I finished college I had the same problem. You know...you leap out of bed at 8 and...you dont have a paper to write anymore. It took me two full months to find a job so I suddenly had a lifetime supply of free time on my hands when all my buds were all working. How was that good? well it was the last time I had two months off...Now i work like a brizzlion hours a week and have for years. so enjoy that time girl, get back to your hobbies that got put on a shelf while you were cramming for finals and all that good stuff....i got a feeling this is going to be an awesome summer 😀

I could be wrong, but I'm reasonably sure she meant high school and not college. So.. give it the old college try.

And once you finish college, do what I'm doing - go back for a Master's Degree.

I hear you loud and clear about living in a small town. Tell me, what's the nearest major city or hip college town? How big a hassle is it to get to and from there by bus? Have you any driving friends you could snag a ride with? There's one bus company around here that runs occasional "shopping" trips to New York City.

Yeah, high school... and the nearest, I believe is four hours away..

That's a little over how far it is from here to New York. The buses of which I spoke leave super-early and get home late. Do you mind if I ask which state you live in? Even the suckiest of towns sometimes have people in them who're trying to make the place a little less boring.

Ah, Ohio, the only state to try and kill me and my entire family twice in one month (long story...driving...December...visiting folks...terrible road conditions etc etc).

Yeah, high school... and the nearest, I believe is four hours away..

That should be fucking criminal. I'd say screw it and be home schooled...course I don't know if you get a degree from that or not.

Well you can take classes online; but I really don't think that will get you as far as an education in the classroom. You would be better served by going to live on/near campus if you plan to attend college. Which, if I were you, I would.

If this is logistically too difficult; then do the next best thing. Study what you can online and look for real text books to download or buy. If one of your subjects is math; then you've lucked out - I'm an astrophysicist who breezed through calculus in college. 🙂

You can take courses online but,it depends on what you are trying to learn. If you want to be a Doctor or something like that you are going to have to go through clinicals and a residency. They do have vocational colleges too, which are more ''hands on''

I say be proud of your graduation, but also be realistic in the job market. You won't get that manager's position right off the bat because of the degree. You have to prove yourself in your employer's eyes, and then you can use your degree to supplement yourself and bring yourself higher

Graduation is terrible! Well, it was for me, anyway. I'm still trying to catch up to my own generation and learn how to become an adult. It's really embarrassing when I see somebody that I know from school. I guess I'm a "late bloomer" (although I refuse to become the "40 year old in his parents' basement" stereotype).

Plus, I miss seeing my buddies every day.

Ah, well. It's not all bad. At least I got a high school diploma out of it. I hear these things are pretty necessary these days.
