We think anxiously about the future and forget the present so that we live in neither the present nor the future. We live as if we will never die and die as though we had never lived.

That movie was made with the Nazis in mind, but that speech could be made against many governments today. Society is moving (officially anyway) in the wrong direction, but people are getting fed up. Many people look at the past to recognize similiar problems, but don't look to the past for wisdom. This speech is ageless. So are many of the writings of the founding fathers.

People need to get inspired to make a better world. Reading youtube comments often makes me sad or angry. Such cold viciousness on so many subjects. The environment we are presented with is sick. Occasionally I'll find a joke on Family Guy or South Park funny, but these shows are encouraging people to be utterly cruel to one another and I think are largely responsible for internet coldness. Kindness and gentleness. Damn. How can we make that cool again?
