I watched Jonathan on the Paar show in the early 60's,..... it was late at night,... my dad came and got me out of my room and said, "Come here,... I want you to see this guy." Possibly the most unique comedy genius this side of Charles Chaplin. Nothing is more exciting than spontaneity and unpredictability,.. and that was his forte. Above all, he understood human nature, and he had satiric fun with it. There's a lot of Mark Twain in Jonathan Winters, adjusting for the manners of the time. But he blended performance with intellect in a way that is seldom seen. I'm gonna watch Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World tonight and hoist one for this remarkable man.
