Okay, I know a lot of people here aren't gamers, and I know not all gamers agree with the hype the Grand Theft Auto series gets, and some people downright object to it, but hooooo-lyyy HECK does GTA4 look amazing. @.@

There's rumours of some people getting copies a few days before its international release on Tuesday - is that anybody here? And what does everyone else think about the game, or at least, how it looks?

I'm not getting it for another six weeks or so, and I really want to play it. Am I the only one excited over this? XD

Well I've like the gta series but I have to admit i've never finish one game.

Particuarly 3 because by the time i've buffed carl with all sorts of weapons and stats...I just don't care about the story anymore. I do like the prospect of the an immigrant guy in the city scenario but I just can't help but feel i'll end up losing interest in the game before I finish it.

I'd still give it a chance though. I'm a sucker for sandbox games.

Well I think I have some good news for you. 😛 I just finished the IGN review of the game, and they said that the story is actually one of the strongest points this time around. 😀 Plus the fact that you can take the other characters out drinking (which you dont have to do, but apparantly it's fun and sheds more light on the story), it shuold be pretty deep. 🙂
 
Almost makes me wish I had a 360...almost. 😕
 
apparently it got a 10/10 from IGN magazine. the first ever game to do so. which means it has to be good
 
the hollywood brother has never played the series but it do look cool
 
i was invited to the midnight party at my local GameStop, but sadly, i had to work that night. but at 2:00 pm on the 29th, GTA4 shall be minez!
 
my flatmate owns a 360 so i have a feeling i'll be playing it kinda soon.

I've finished every GTA since the original ones on DOS.

So i hope this one leaves me in awe like Vice city did ^^

I hear you. 😛 I used to suck when it came to completing them, but I messed around on them all for hours, even the very first one (that was top-down, 5 pixels per character and had four weapons). The only ones I didn't play were those spin-offs, Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories. I figure the new city is like, 90% of the reason for buying these games, and to pay another £25 for the exact same same city models seemed like a rip-off.
 
I'm also looking forward to it, I'm going over to see Senshi in June and we're gonna buy it together--I don't have a 360--and play it together for the first time :super_hap It looks AWESOME, and apprently every individual character is different, a change even from GTA3, which I have. It's gonna be awesome...IF a certain SOMEONE can WAIT the five weeks until I get there!😀😀😀 He's been nuts over it--it's actually taking precidence over TK in his brain :wooha: 😀

That's not true!! XD Although how cool would that be. o.0 The ability to kidnap and tickle torture people for cash. Heehee okay NOW I want GTA4. 😀 😀 😀

I think they might over-hype this game, honestly... doesn't mean I don't already have my GTA4 fansite made and t-shirts printing already!

(Note: No actual GTA4 fansite or T-Shirts.)
 
i just bought GTA4 when it came out on tuesday, and i must say it friggin rocks! the cars drive like cars and i spent 2 hours just ramming into short walls so that i can fly outta the windshield and off a 30 foot drop.

i love this game so much!
 
I think Meka might get this game for the PS3 eventually.

My 2 cents on GTA IV

I got GTA IV for the 360 platform and it's pretty sweet graphically and gameplay wise. I noticed a lot more police out patrolling than in the previous versions of GTA, a lot less people drop cash making random violence not as profitable (and more troublesome b/c of the police), and trying to drive in the game while the character is drunk makes me personally almost sick sober.

So with that being said I noticed some subtle "positive" changes, but as you progress through the missions you still get to enjoy the bread n' butter antics that made the other GTA's great. Shaking up people for protection money, following out hits ordered by your current employer, and smashing up vehicles just to name a few, and all with the beautiful new physics system.

Again, if you enjoyed playing any of the other GTAs then you'll definitely enjoy this one. It's worth the $60 for the hours and hours of use you'll get from it.

oh you know what i've been doing in the game lately is moving into people to death. No seriously. The ragdoll physics are so awesome that you can shove a person, make the collapse and do it over and over till they die. Honestly i've never had so much fun just shoving a person into a corner till they ragdoll to the floor and die.

what's even more fun is shoving people off of edges for a 50ft drop. god that's hilarious.

i spent a cool hour just stealing the annihilator chopper, taking it up real high, and bailing out and watching my self curl up into a fetal position and fall to my doom, the rag doll effects or so fun.
 
I'm thinking about getting GTA 4 for my PS3. But, before I do, I need to know if it has any useful cheats like unlimited ammo, unlimited health, etc. just like all the other ones.
 
Yeah, there are cheats, check out gamefaqs.com.

But why want the cheats? No fun that way. 😛
 
I also have playing this game. Very good the falling down of the characters - real!! Also police are real. They do not drive everywhere and crash you car - they must SEE you now!

ya, spawn vehicles, give weapons, refill ammo,armor and health, etc. not unlimited, per se, but close enough.
 
Not only that, but GTA 4 keeps track of how many times you cheated... I must say this and apologies for turning off the censors but this game is deserving:

HOLY FUCKIN ASS-CRACKERS does this game rock!!! The graphics are amazing, the gameplay is fantastic (driving actually feels more real than other GTAs), the story is actually quite good and someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think Liberty City actually is a scale model of New York: awesome!!! Finally, the piece de resistence: the multiplayer potential through Xbox Live. Oh and the use of a cell phone to call cops just to ambush them when they arrive... everything rocks!!!
