Don't tell my wife, but I'm here to admit that I was wrong about something.

I was among the 'hacha is a big pain in the ass' crowd. I certainly wasn't going to let the fact that I had never tried it get in the way of that opinion either, dammit!

Having used it, I can now say that I regret all the great clips I missed out on.
This thing is so easy to use, I plan on hacha-ing some of my favs that I wished I could share but are too big for this forum.

Moderators, you may want to consider adding some hard drive space - I'm something of a hacha zealot now!

Hacha has no instructions and some of us have tried over and over and it still doesn't work.

Yes it's easy to use. And simple even 🙂

Well, you might be right: whoever started using it, probably was a spanish speaker. And I think there IS a support for hacha - in spanish, though.

That's the whole problem with it: it's written in spanish, and there is no english version around I know of.

So a lot of ppl can't get past the first menu.

Plus, it tries to register itself and put a shortcut into the start menu. Problem is: once registered, you can't open LATER archives split with newer versions. So it's rather pointless to register a thing that can't always work.
That's why I manually look for the file rather than employing the built-in extension's registering.

I know how frustrating it can be. Fortunately, I could learn english back then [more or less 😀 ] so a learning smattering of spanish wasn't really an issue.

Sure, if the blasted piece of software had come from an english speaker, much less ppl would be upset over it.

BTW, I made a kind of tutorial, somewhere in this forum. If anybody feels like reading it, it could serve as support in a pinch.

Reg's!

I'm not a spanish speaker, but i found hacha to be quite simple. however, winrar is much simpler and i'd prefer ppl would use it to convert their files rather than hacha.

as for using hacha, first u have to download all the files. than extract each file seperately to the same folder. and finally, open the hacha.exe which is on the last file, choose the drawing that shows the disc being put together. u don't need to know spanish to figure it out. choose the one file that is shown on the folder which the files were extracted too, and then press the left button (the right one says cancelar which is not difficult to understand means cancel), the graph will go from 0 to 100 percent, and there you have it. you'll find the file ready for u in the same folder. it takes some time, but it's not that bad. however, like i said, winrar is much better.

Let me to say, that hacha has directions in both languages spanish and english. This program was released by a latin man, for this reason is made in spanish. You can get complete last version of this program (including help files) in this thread : click here! on Post #14.

If you hover over any of the buttons in Hacha the tooltips menu that comes up is in English. For instance if hover over the "Pegar" button and wait a couple seconds...it says "Join a Splitted File". You can also hover over the picture and it will display the same thing.

I prefer Winrar because that is useable by Macs and hacha is not

isn't hacha icon-based (like windows)? so what could be simpler than that? you see the arrows pointing outwards...that means to break apart. The arrows pointing inwards...put them back again. Who cares about text instructions if even a kindergarten kid can read pictures?

Mmm... Haven't tried hacha on linux. I wonder if it works under Wine.

I have a Mac, Tickle Girl. I tried to download it, but just got a window full of programming text.

Ok, i believe that this machacha.sitx or has an error (because it contains MacHacha without type instead of appl kind) or it's for Mac OS X. I tryed it in Mac OS 7.5.3 and didn't work. Maybe we'll have to drop a lines to support of MacHacha. I did write an e-mail to maker of macHacha and he just told me that version is for Mac OS X (not under this version).

Well you can get a mac classics version of hacha just in this thread : click here!.
