Indeed. And that brief passage might be the most important part of the Declaration.

The country has already been sold out to coprorate personhood, those are the only "people" who count anymore. Good luck aboloshing and especially instituting a new government. The American people can't even stand each other, how are they going to band together and institute a new government? It's a lot harder to build up than it is to destroy. On top of that our country has turned into an embarrassment and an international concern. So it's a little hard to be rah-rah America this year, especially on an international forum.

That said: even though it's been going down the tubes for a long time, we - or I should say they - established a government that was not a monarchy, not a theocracy, and not a military dictatorship.....with a well-written legal document that left a lot of room for the country to grow and improve, if it wanted to.

The litmus test for me is the Preamble to the Constitution, what the Constitution says about itself, what it's for and why it was created. If it doesn't match up to this, something is wrong:

We, The People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

They chip away and undercut that every single day, including the people themselves.

Sorry to be a cynic, Bugman, just the way I'm feeling this year, as a citizen. I'm a little disgusted, and not feeling very sentimental. I'm happy I have the freedom to say that. I'm proud of the great contributions Americans have made to the world, and culture. Alot of them came from poor backgrounds, be they Abraham Lincoln or Billie Holiday, or Henry Ford, or The Marx Brothers (had to put Ford next to some Jewish greats, he'd hate that, lol). But if the "people" of this country don't get their shit together soon, they're ain't going to that many more 4th of Julys. It's 2016, and the country is looking as dumb as it ever was.

America really is a special place. I know there are lots of great people and countries all over the world, but I am happy I was born and raised in the USA!
