Thank you for bouncing your child on your knee and playing horsey on the floor.
Thank you for pushing your child in their swing and lifting them to get a sip of water.
Thank you for tucking them in at night and that special extra wink as you switched off the light and closed the door.
Thank you for carrying your child on your shoulder and making them feel like they were a giant among giants.
Thank you for that reassuring strong hand that would grasp a small child's hand and guide them safely to their destination.
And most of all... Thank you for all those wonderful Daddy hugs that mean so much to a child.
Thank you to Daddy's all over the world for being who and what you are... Our heroes!
My dad went to heaven almost 2 years ago. I miss his terribly but the memories left behind are strong and clear in my heart. I had a wonderful dad who gave me an incredible childhood filled with hugs, and running, wrestling, and silliness. Kickball in the street and Christmas Carols in front of the house. He was a wonderful father, dad, provider, and dear friend. Now as I watch my brothers with their own children... I see Dad in each of them. They all take that special time to be with their children. Making those special memories of days doing nothing but hanging with dad or days of doing something special.
