ROFL!!! That's cute, Joby! I love halloween...both in the original observation and the more secular observation. I like to remember what it's really about. But, I also enjoy haunted houses and stuff to scare the hell out of me. LOL
Most people don't even know anymore that Halloween (All Hallows Eve) began as a celebration of the night before All Saints Day. The dressing up comes from dressing as the saints for parades that took place...kind of a more spiritual version of mardi gras parades. Over time (as with everything) it became more secular...and even satanic for some.
The satanic part is what gets people's knickers in a twist this time of year. You hear them on radio or TV, trying to call people to boycot halloween. They'd like to throw out the baby with the bath water. I say, celebrate for all you're worth. Just do it safely...on every level.
BTW, if anyone's interested, there are some great Halloween screensavers here... AAA Screen Savers.com The site has tons of good stuff. It's free. And the files are virus free (at least for the 300+ I've already checked.
As Jimbo found out yesterday, they DO have lots of pop-ups. So, if you don't want to have to deal with them, you may want to DL this first...Pop-Up Stopper It can be configured to stop all pop-up screens whereever you go. I've had it for a few months now and have yet to see a pop-up.

My favorite part of Halloween is the huge sacks of candy in all the stores...mini-bars, wax lips, and Dubble Bubble bubble gum, mmmmm...the original pink bubble gum, predating even Bazooka.
Who remembers Chum Gum? Fizzies? Turkish Taffy and BB Bats? Slo Pokes and Black Cows?

Fizzies were great, especially the lime with the wizard on the package. Turkish Taffy got stuck in your teeth like JuJubees. Don't remember seeing Black Cows but I recall them being very similar to Sugar Mamas. (chocolate covered Sugar Daddies)

I used to LOVE BBbats! We'd go down to the corner store and get them all the time.
AFA costumes, I have an Indian outfit I made...real leather, beadwork...and feathers, of course. As a secular celebration, it passes as any old Indian woman. As All Hallows Eve observance, it's Kateri Tekakwitha...a Mohawk maiden who was martyred for helping to protect Jesuit missionaries. It fits BOTH sides...AND I have feathers close at hand!

A man stood on the side of the road hitch hiking on a very dark night in the middle of a storm. The night was rolling and no cars passed. The storm was so strong, he could hardly see a few feet ahead of him. Suddenly he saw a car come towards him and stop.The guy, without thinking about it, got in the car and closed thedoor to realize that nobody was behind the wheel. The car startedslowly. The guy looked at the road and saw a curve coming his way.Scared, he started praying, and begged for his life. He hadn't come out of shock, when just before he hit the curve, a hand appeared through the window and moved the wheel. The guy, paralyzed in terror, watched how the hand appeared every time before a curve.The guy gathered strength, got out
of the car and ran to the nearest town. Wet and in shock, he ran into a cantina and asked for two shots of tequila, and started telling everybody about the horrible experience he went through. A silence enveloped everybody when they realized the guy was crying and wasn't drunk.About half an hour later, two guys walked into the same cantina, and one said to the other.
"Look Pepe, that's the character who climbed into the car while we were pushing."
hehe. I LOVE HALLOWEEN! In all of its forms~! Who can say that masquerading isn't fun at least once a year? 😛

Wow! Fizzies! We used to drink that by the gallon! Turkish Taffy? Frozen then broken into pieces? The best! Don't recall Chum Gum, or BB Bats, but downed a few more Slo Pokes and Black Cows than I care to admit.
Best of all, after Halloween, most of thast candy goes on sale!🙂
