Someday, I want my family and I to participate in the celebration of Hanukkah (and the Passover) at a Jewish family's home so they can see all it entails. After all, as a wise Messianic Jew once told me, in order to be a good Christian, you have to understand what it means to be a good Jew!

Thats a good idea. It teaches your children to respect other religions and understand them. Good form.

I think he was just stating a biblical fact, in regards to the jews being instrumental in God's works. By "chosen people", it simply means that the jewish people are the ones God had chosen to work through the most, at the time, and then the gentiles (the rest of us). They were also chosen for the purpose of delivering His son. It is by no means a judgement of superiority or inferiority of them or anyone else as a race, people, or class.
