Happy Samhain! (Ghosts, Monsters, and Two Ticklish Girls)

"I can't believe you took me away from the bonfire for this," Eryn complained as she stood outside of the old house. Samantha shut the trunk of the car after grabbing a flashlight and walked toward the small, redhaired witch.

"Eryn, come on. It's a tradition now! First it was the graveyard. Last year it was the old jail. This year it's a haunted house." Sam told Eryn, her voice thick with playful taunting. "Don't tell me you're scared." The goth grinned at her fianceé and flicked on the flashlight under her chin in a classic "scary" gesture. "Oooooh!"

The witch rolled her eyes and tried hard not to laugh. "Oh shut up, you. If I hafta do this, I'm not going to listen to your teasing." She said as she walked up the steps to the front door of the house. After checking the door, she raised her small wooden wand. The tip seemed to flare up, burning with green flame. Eryn tapped the doorhandle and there was a loud, percussive pop. The door creaked open, revealing the remnants of the latch lying across the dark wooden floor. Eryn's green eyes widened a little bit. "Niiiiice. That one blew up pretty well."

Sam leaned in and looked around. Shining the flashlight from side to side revealed yellow walls, marked with cracks and holes, cobwebs, and general ruination. "Oh it's not so bad in here. It's just a classic fixer-upper," She said, walking inside, giving part of the latch a kick. It slid across the hardwood floor, coming to rest against the dark wood molding around the bottom of the walls. Every piece of furniture and decoration was missing, giving the house the feeling of being inside a skeleton.

Eryn pulled a piece of peeling, yellowed wallpaper off and grimaced. "How old did you say this place was?" She looked to Samantha dubiously for her response. The goth pointed the flashlight upstairs. "About fifteen years. Last owners bought it five years ago, but the hauntings got so bad that they left three years ago."

A little laugh escaped from Eryn. "That's what happens when you give ghosts a run of the place!" She said.

As the two women stepped from the entryway into one of the adjoining rooms, something was watching them. Hidden within a hole in the wall, a single orange eye peered out at them. Continuing their conversation, Samantha and Eryn both stopped at the same moment as they saw another of the enigmatic eyes. It was atop a small grayish-green monster that stood no more than about ten inches tall on four spindly legs. A long tongue dangled from the middle of a circle of teeth as its single, dome-like eyeball glanced between them. "Eryn, ever seen one of those?" Sam asked, her voice clipped.

Eryn responded slowly, watching the strange little thing. "Nnnnope. I'd remember something that looked that stupid." She walked over to the window, kicking at the tiny monster as she passed. It hopped back about a foot, then leaned toward her, watching the witch pass. It's orange eye was drawn to the wand she carried in her left hand. "I'm glad, though, that this is a classic haunted house. Complete with little snivelling monsters. I thought you said that it had ghosts in it, though."

Sam shrugged. "I only know what the owners told me. They didn't really seem all that there. Too bothered with two screaming kids and their cell phones to notice anything. I'm surprised they realized the place had monsters in it."

That got a laugh from Eryn who walked past the tiny eye-monster again. "Sounds like mom and dad, but..." She stopped as a breezy moan floated through the room. "But that sure doesn't." She said, turning to Samantha. That's when the smaller girl nearly squealed as she pointed. "Sam!! Look out!!"

The warning was a moment too late as one of the little monsters lept up and grabbed the flashlight with its tongue. Before the goth could get it back, though, two spectres appeared, floating through the far wall. One bobbed from side to side, swinging long, sharp, scythe-like talons as it flew toward Samantha. The other was a bony, emaciated humanoid figure which sighed mournfully as it caught Eryn by the shoulders. "Let me go!!" The witch shouted out as the spirit began pushing her to the floor.

Samantha grinned at the clawed ghost heading her way as she flicked her knife out and spoke the simple spell to enchant it. One of the few magical spells she'd learned from Eryn so far, it was quite possibly the most useful, since it let her stab the spooks, spectres, and ghosts that were normally encountered. "Come on, you fuckin' four-eyed freak!" Sam shouted, brandishing the glowing stilleto at the bulbous, ghostly head. In a simple dodging motion, it feigned to the left, making her slash out with the knife as it then flew straight overhead to snare the woman in its long claw arms.

"Nnooo!" Sam shouted out angrily as the claws dug into her ribs, making her drop the knife and fall to her ass with a bounce. The spectral, banshee-like spirit that held Eryn was now reaching down for her soft tummy to tickle her navel. The little witch curled up and laughed hysterically. As the two women laughed and squirmed in the grasp of the ghosts, several of the small monsters toddled out. One hopped up onto Eryn's right knee and plucked her Birkenstock off. Tiny, sharp fingers reached down and scraped against her sole, dragging even louder laughs from the redhead.

Samantha kicked her legs, but it didn't matter. Three of the eye-monsters jumped on her boots and began undoing them. Within less than a minute, her footwear had been carried off. Their tiny claw-hands scritched and teased at her soles, drawing angry shouts from the goth. Now, the monsters and the spectres had both young women at their mercy. Kicking and laughing, the ghost-hunters were powerless to escape as their voices filled the house.

Thanks for the kind words, kiddo. Put a lot of effort into this one (going so far as to actually draw me and Eryn on two separate pages and combine them), so I'm glad it's well recieved.
