I was watching Modern Marvels on the History Channel yesterday and they had a segment on cruise ships. These floating cities are amazing to say the least. I'd be interested in where you went and what the trip was like.
I have and it was amazing! I would go back in a heart beat. There was plenty to do while at see, the people I met who either worked there or were other travelers were super nice, it was incredibly relaxing, and there was something geared for every age group. I went on Royal Caribbean and we stopped in St. Martin, San Juan, and a private beach in Haiti. You can't ask for a better vacation.
7 nights 1st class aboard 'island star' around the Mediterranean. Rome, Portofino, Nice, Monte Carlo etc. From the Continental Breakfast on our private balcony to the steak grill and pint on the rear deck at sunset i class this as being right up there at the top of my best list. Speed boats on the Italian Playboy circuit to Ferraris outside The Casino de Monte-Carlo and helicopters on the back of yachts backing on to the F1 racetrack. Enjoying a stogie in the same cafe as Elton John watching a playboy photo shoot before taking a helicopter back to the cruise ship is living.

Did a cruise around the Norwegian Fjords a few years ago. We were on the Balmoral, one of Fred Olsen's larger ships but still small by cruise ship standards with space for around 1300 guests.
There was still plenty to do and we enjoyed the more intimate feel of this smaller ship.
I'd recommend both Norway & Cruising.
We did this one for our honeymoon:
