Today,. I ate in.. what was.. in my opinion, the worst restaurant since I;ve been back in NY.

I met my friend Adam for lunch in Manhattan. We went to a place called Heartland in Times Square.

First.. for a cool.. $13, they served me a tiny burger that was burned to a frazzle. After I complained, and ordered chicken fingers.. said order came.. also, tiny, and burned to a frazzle. The meal ended up costing me $20. When I got home to Forest Hills, I was still hungry, so I went to Boston Market for a second lunch of a turkey platter, that was far more satisfying, and cheaper, than the "meal" I had at Heartland.

Have any other forum members tried Heartland? If so, what were the thoughts? If you haven't, my advice would be to avoid it at all costs. It's expensive, the portions are tiny, and the food, in my opinion, is lousy.

Man, that is lame, even for a restaurant in New York's tourist zone.

On a recent foray into The Big Apple, I found a place that for ten dollars set me up with a rather satisfying if a bit overpriced hamburger and fries. Don't remember the place's name though. It had the word "deli" in its name.

Yes, kop, what I experienced at Heartland was lame.

You mentioned paying ten dollars for a burger and fries. Unless the place you're describing is fast food, that doesn't sound like a bad deal.

We just stayed in Manhattan this past weekend and we walked past the Heartland Brewery. I had a meal there a few years ago and I thought it was pretty good. I even had my first beer in over 20 years that night. IF you really want a "watch out for this place" it would be Churrascaria Plataforma Restaurant on 49th St. The restaurant is very nice and classy, but, there is no menu and when you arrive they just seat you and tell you "this is how we do it here". You get a card with a red side and green side. The waiters come around with meat on scewers and cut it right at your table. You can help yourself to the salad bar. What they don't give you is the price. We both ate and had nothing but tap water to drink. No coffee and dessert. The bill came out to $137.00 for the 2 of us. NOT that I minded the large bill, but how it was pretty much concealed until we got it. Nice experience but we will not be returning.

Wow, boxr. The place you mentioned sounds awful. I will be avoiding that.

As for Heartland, I'm glad your experience in there wasn't as bad as mine was. Differing opinions is what makes the world go round.
