I used to live in an old Victorian terrace, which had storage heaters... not particularly good value when you consider effectiveness versus expense. The house also had a log burner, which was lovely as a feature and was certainly effective at heating the room in which it was situated.
Now I have a gas fired boiler for central heating and radiators in all rooms. It's much easier to manage on a day to bay basis via timed periods and minimum/maximum temperature settings to over-ride preset times.
It also helps me maintain humidity levels for my indoor plants.
I have a thermal duvet too, if that counts 🙂
I get frustrated at work with some people's approach to the air-conditioning - less well-informed colleagues arrive in the morning and go "oh isn't it cold today" and without giving their body a chance to adjust to the indoor temperature they go whacking up the air-conditioning to heat to something ridiculous like 30 degrees and then leave it like that, thinking that if they decrease it or start from a more sensible level, they won't achieve a consistent temperature, but of course they would if they gave it a chance and it would much more comfortable for everyone concerned and wouldn't blow up so many compressors on the outside plant that runs the air-con system! Rant over 🙂
