Good fortune has fallen upon me with the discovery that a friend of mine is a dyed in the wool 'lee! The gods have smile upon me. She's amazingly sensitive *everywhere* I've tried and, considering her petite size, very very strong... she fights like crazy until I wear her down then she almost gives up and hardly fights... oh so amazing.

Anyway, after several sessions of more than an hour (I never thought I hear myself say that) we've come to the point where she'd like to be restrained. I've used just rope before (long time ago) but she fights so hard I don't think rope is not a wise choice for her dainty unblemished wrists.

Any recommendations for for cuffs? Looking for something soft and comfy so she doesn't hurt herself. I've seen leather, lined leather, latex and rubber cuffs (at bdsmtoybox.com) but have no idea how they'll be in use.

My favourite tool of restraint would be a set of stocks with the holes lined, to reduce chafing. Just my personal favourite.

There are a lot of options. If you want to get serious about things, find a good fetish shop. They have padded leather cuffs that are quite comfy. But, you're paying for what you get. They're a bit on the pricey side even before you look at rope, etc.

If you don't want to spend a lot of money, most adult toy stores carry those inexpensive restraints with the quick releases. They're about $35 for ankle and wrist cuffs with straps that can be fastened to the feet of the bed etc.

IF you choose to go that way, a couple of bits of advice. They are not well thought out in their design. So, two things you'll want to tend to. The first is that the clasps don't hold too well with any real amount of tension. What we did was to tape them (using heavy packaging tape) to keep the cuffs permanently attached to the straps. The cuffs themselves are velcro closure. So it's still quick to get them off if you need to. The second thing is that the ninny who designed them has the rough piece to the velcro facing the skin instead of away from it. So, unless the person is rather small jointed, you have some of that rough part rubbing against the skin...which can cause a nasty brush burn if the person struggles enough. We solve that difficulty by using the ankle portion of a pair of socks as a buffer in between. It's much more comfy AND helps to keep the cuffs from absorbing the sweat if you really get going.

some cuffs work well though

Ann,
Sorry to hear you got such poorly designed cuffs.I finally broke down and bought a set of these a few years ago. They have been a lifesaver. Mine are made with a nylon strap and a thin foam pad around the wrist end. The QR clasps work well and the velcro is on the correct side. The idiot who designed yours probably doesnt use them.(kind of like a non-tickler who makes tickling videos just for the money, it always shows). These were also about 35 bucks per pair. What I dont like is that the strap between the clasps is too long.Plus when my wife pulls hard on them the velcro pulls together and its hard to find the end to get them off.(usually I'm cross eyed by then anyway)But on the whole I have to say I think they are the best idea for restraints as far as comfort and effectiveness are concerned.

Old scarves and neckties are very comfortable...very cheap...and very effective.

So, here goes:

In my opinion, it’s worth a few bucks for safety and security. One good source is J.T.’s Stockroom at: http://www.stockroom.com/

But for even better quality, try Mr. S. Leather’s. The website is down tonight, but it’s at:
http://www.mr-s-leather-fetters.com/
If you cannot open the website, call them on the phone, at (415) 863-7764. They are very
helpful, and will help you decide on any application.

Next go to Home Depot and buy:
Four two foot lengths of rope (or rather one big long 50 foot length of good quality rope, then cut it in to
The shorter pieces).
Four three foot lengths of chain
Four double ended snap hooks

Tie one end of each piece of rope to an end link of a piece of chain [knot it quite “snugly”]. Make a knotted loop at the other end each piece of rope. Wrap the rope around the leg of the bed, an draw the free end of the chain through the free loop at the end of the rope, as you’ve pulled it around the leg of the bed. Tighten. Repeat on the other three corners of the bed. You know have four modest size lengths of chain secured to the bed legs, but not damaging any of the woodwork (or metal frame, if its that kind).

Wrap the wrist and ankle cuffs around your lucky victim and buckle them. Clip one end of a double ended snap hook to the “D-ring” in each cuff. Position your victim as you would choose. In this case it’s inevitably going to be “spread-eagled” face up or face down.

Reach and pull up one at a time, the lengths of free chain. Taking the other end of the double ended snap hook, extend the limb of your victim, and connect the snap hook to a link in the chain, that will be a nice tight stretch, without much ‘give’.

When you’ve got all four limbs outstretched and fastened, tickle merrily away; she won’t be going anywhere.

And you’ll be saving the furniture, and saving your partner from any potential risk of wrist or tendon strain or damage, a rather important consideration.
