HELP? Headers in MS Word

I'm hoping there are at least a few MS Word gurus here. I have a project deadline to meet, and I'm having trouble putting headers in my document. It shouldn't be this hard, but it is.

I'm hoping to set things up so that the header on even pages will reflect the title of my work, and the header on the odd numbered pages will display the title of the chapter.

So far, my attempts to set up headers has failed.. badly. I'll welcome any help with this.

- In the Ribbon, click the Insert tab.

- Click Header under the Header & Footer Group.

- Click Edit Header.

In the blank header area, you can add your name and page numbers or whatever information you desire.


- Press CTRL + R.

- Type your name and press Enter.

- Type Page.

- Click the Insert tab.

- Click Page Number in the Header & Footer Group.

- Click Current Position.

- Click Plain Number.

- Click the Close Header button.

Not to worry if you decide you would like different information in your header or you want to delete some information. Simply double-click in the header area and you can then edit the header.

Once your edits are finished, double-click outside the header area to continue working in the rest of the document.

If you're on 03, then View>Header and Footer. Much easier, haha.

07, CrystalLight seems to have explained it fairly well... hate 07 myself, haha.
