perhaps I'm completely missing the point
Perhaps this thread is in the wrong place...

Anyway. Can someone explain this?

Visiting Extremetickling.com today (Yes, I do have an account, that's not the issue) When I "click" on a file for Real Media, it all is good and fine, but when I try to look at an MPEG, I get the damned


"REAL networks cannot find this thingie on your computer.. perhaps you should browse and find it yourself, IDIOT!"


This greatly irks and offends me, as several of the files I would like to view are MPEG files, and I have not been able to figure out how to do so. Does anyone out there recognise this problem, and does anyone have any suggestions? Do I need special software, or have I configured something incorrectly? I am out of ideas!

Phat...are you trying to play them off the site? If so, DLing them (right click and save as) should solve the problem. If you have to play them from the site, I believe all you need to do is change the settings on your real player to handle all file types. (There's a button on there somewhere to do that. But, it depends on which version you're using.) Personally, I would DL things. Then, you can play anything at any time without having to be online or use up extra bandwidth at ET.

Yeah, I've had the same problem with REAL, only then my computer would talk to their computer, and their computer would come back and yell "HA HA WE CAN'T FIND IT EITHER, YOU BLITHERING MORON".

I don't like all these different formats and codecs.

Best to DL the latest versions of each (freebie) player then do what Ann said, right click, save as, then it's yours on your machine and should work well with the latest players.

Worked well with QuickTime ver. 6 for me last week. QuickTime stuff works well now from my download library. Good luck.
