Lucky me,i had to buy a new computer and a monitor.:ranty: Anyway, heres the problem.I can't see imbeded youtube videos here.I downloaded the latest Adobe flash player,do i need something else?

First make sure you actually did install the latest version of Flash. Head to Adobe's About Flash page and see what version it gives you. 9.0.124.0 is the latest version.

Now, what do you see in the place of embedded videos? Empty space? Something that doesn't look like the player? You may have some setting or another that has disabled content like Flash video from playing. Which browser are you using, my bug'd man?

Yes,i just see empty space.I'm using IE,just as i always have.I'll take a look and see what Flash player i have.

Edit:Seems i have Adobe 6.0.88.0

Wait, that doesn't sound right. In the "Version Information" box on that page I gave it says "You have version 6,0,88,0 installed"? That's a pretty old version. You're positive that's not for something else, like your version of IE, correct?

If that really is what it says can you head to this page and install the latest player? It should automatically provide a download link. If that version number is your IE version number you need to give Internet Explorer an update to version 7; that version resolves a number of issues with version 6. To update it look in Start>All Programs for either "Microsoft Update" or "Windows Update" at the top of the list. Clicking one will take you through a process of checking for updates; one of these should be IE7.

similar problems with Youtube

I have downloade the latest version of adobe and have verified it is active, however Youtube still does not show the videos and tells me I either have it disabled or dont have the latest viewer......Only Youtube does this. Dailymotion seems to work fine.

Sometimes Javascript settings can disable youtube videos. Do you know if you have restricted Javascript in any way? If not, what internet browser do you use? Perhaps we can track down the issue.

I'm using Windows Internet Explorer and dont know exactly how to see if the Javascript settings are restricting things or not. I was looking multiple times in my settings and everything was enabled. But from there I was stuck. Any help would be much appreciated.

There are two options to try here. Do you have anything customized in Internet Explorer that you know of? An add on or other changed setting? If no, you can try resetting IE's settings to the default values. If, in Internet Explorer 7, you go to "Tools" and select "Internet Options" you'll get the settings box appearing. Look on the "Advanced" tab for a reset button. Clicking that resets all your settings. I do not know if (but it doesn't appear to) it will delete any history or auto-complete entries.

The second option to try is to download and install and alternative browser. If Youtube Videos fail to play in it then you have a bad Flash player. Alternatives include Opera, Mozilla Firefox and Safari.

Sooooo Frustrating

Well, I tried resetting all my settings. That did not work. Then I downloaded Opera, loaded and used it and again, Youtube's site keeps directing me to Adobe to download the current driver. I did verify I have and am using the latest version. What makes this very, very frustrating is that this is only happening with Youtube. I give up!! As far as figuring this out, I am at a loss because I am not as computer savy as I was 10 years ago.

Thanks for all your help thus far.

Then the problem is with Flash. Unfortunately you have to download a program just to remove it. Head to this page and follow the instructions on it to remove the Flash plugin and ActiveX. Once you have removed it verify that it is gone on this page. Once you are sure that it is gone reboot your computer. Next reinstall Flash at Adobe's website. See if, after another restart, that solves the problem.

It took me long enough to sit down and try your solution and it worked! I did have to try a trick listed on Adobe's website when installing the driver with my vista.

Thanks again!
