It was only a matter of time before the squeaky clean got dirty...

NEW YORK (AP) - Vanessa Hudgens' representative has confirmed that a nude photo circulating on the Internet is indeed the 18-year-old star of Disney Channel's wildly popular "High School Musical" movies.

"This was a photo which was taken privately," said Jill Fritzo, Hudgens' publicist, on Friday. "It is a personal matter and it is unfortunate that this has become public."

The photo shows the 18-year-old actress standing naked in what appears to be a bathroom, with a red shower curtain behind her.

The Disney Channel (part of the Walt Disney Co.) denied a published report that Hudgens will be dropped from the upcoming feature film "High School Musical 3." That movie is in development and negotiations with the stars are incomplete.

Disney had no further comment about the pictures.

Hudgens portrayed Gabriella, the brainy love interest of Zac Efron's basketball star in the first two "High School Musical" made-for-cable movies. The two are said to be dating in real life.

"High School Musical 2" attracted more than 17 million viewers for its Disney Channel premiere in August, the most-watched television program of the summer.

Then again, in today's scandal ridden society, there isn't much shock!

Ms. Hudgens should publicly finger the jerk who violated her trust so no woman ever trusts him again. Damn, you're a guy who gets a hot girl to do that and then you turn around and betray her?

But the photo here does not look authentic, does it? Her face looks pasted on the body. Or is it just a crummy print?

What, exactly, is so "dirty" and "scandalous" about it? The actress in question is a young woman of legal age who posed PRIVATELY for pictures she never intended the public to see. The only "dirty" thing about this to me is the sleazebag who apparently violated her trust and posted the pic on the 'net. Vanessa Hudgens herself has nothing to be ashamed of.

The real shock to me is the adult, nonjudgmental way the usually reactionary Disney Co. seems to be handling the whole situation.

disney will do nothing. HSM2 was the highest grossing movie ever on basic cable..
the following is humongus and she is of legal age at 18 to do what she likes.
Plus chances are not too many of her tween fans will see it and for the male ones that do it will only.. well you know. She should sue the rat bastard who released it. Disney is not making any comments one way or the other.
This will prolly all blow over in a couple of months...This was obvioslu taken in either a bedroom or hers( i saw an enlarged view of it on another site) and taken with a cell camera. She seems like a nice young lady.. and very pretty plus her album is doing very well.

This "scandal" is just another example of the deep inner conflict Americans have between their puritanical ideals and the real world. If your religion tells you that nudity is immodist and evil, and sex is dirty, and you internalize that belief, you will never, ever, be truly at peace.

Correct me if Im wrong, but didnt Disney raise all kinds of hell when Melissa Joan Hart did a spread in Maxim? Yet they're willing to look the other way on this?

Look I'm not saying she's wrong for what she did, she should be fired or lose her gig on the next HSM movie, and it was in fact in the privacy in her own room and she is of age to do what ever she want, but you can't honestly tell me that this is totally different from what Melissa Joan Hart did.
