A general thread that I'm hoping won't cause problems. I was thinking,. about what seems to be really important.. and.. came to the conclusion,. that.. at least for me, and maybe.. for others.. history.. means everything.
For myself:
Mitch joined a forum., the TMF, in 2002, when he lost his very good friend, and pen pal, Don Fraser, who shared his love of tickling. While Mitch has had his ups and downs with said forum over the 11 years he's been a member, he has also received extremely important support.. during the illness and death of his mother, and at other important times.
Mitch can look at the TMF, and see.. old stories he wrote..about a tickling bandit.. or his fantasy baseball team on a tropical island, into tickling, that a couple of people enjoyed reading. He can read debates he's had with other forum members about politics.. and can read the thread and support he had.. when his mother was sick with cancer, and after she passed away.
Mitch watched Jim Gardner for over a decade, who became Mitch's favorite newscaster, and who was instrumental in helping Mitch keep relaxed, on so many nights, during Mitch's mother's illness, and after her death. When Mitch thought he was going to lose being able to watch Jim Gardner after over a decade, when Mitch moved to NY, Jeff found Mitch the link to the WPVI newscast in Philly, so in spite of the fact that Mitch doesn't live in PA anymore, Mitch can STILL watch Jim Gardner.. and does so, most every night.
Mitch has been friends with his friend Barney for over 20 years, and can remember the times they used to sing together in coffee houses in college. Now, they live in the same building.
Mitch, after a long period away from his friend Adam, finds Adam on Facebook. and goes back, after 20 years, only to create/continue a wonderful new history, where the loyalty never faded.
I;m sorry if this thread is too .. personal. I've been trying to keep personal threads in my blog.. This isn't meant to be a "rant" or "complaint". More so.. a musing.. of just how important "History" is.
In reality.. isn't "History", why all the long time members of this forum have stayed? Almost like. we are all friends/comrades of the same site, who just happen to share the same interest of tickling, and for some of us, of feet?
I know this is true for me. Such is why.. in spite of my.. rocky threads, explosions on forum, and threats to leave, I never have left, and likely never will. I just cant turn my back on a site, members, and friends, who I have shared so much time with, and who I've had mutual support with.
I'm seriously hoping this thread doesn't cause problems. It's a bit.. personal.. with a more.. general theme. My point of this thread is not Mitch.. or my life.,.. but more so.. to pose the question for discussion.. of the meaning of history in all of our lives?
Thanks.
