So I figured since it's reaching that festive time, what's your method to holiday shopping? My family's reached that age where we've all went mute about what we want. Fatigue from the rest of the year, I imagine.

I shop at thrift stores. Money is tight... And... with the money I do have... I have to make it stretch. And thats near impossible at the mall. (The mall... I worked in them long enough to know its going to be a madhouse anyway...) But I stick to thrift stores near the richer neighborhoods to find the best stuff. I usually find really cool things. And if not.. gift cards.

The custom for Hanukkah is to give presents to children only, not exchanged among adults.
So, for my two grandnephews and my grandniece, I go to the Toys R Us website and pick out some toys to be shipped to each of them.

I usually ask my loved ones any stuff they want. I often have ideas what to get them, but I keep what they want in mind too so at least one of their gifts will be well received. I tend to go to Christmas markets to get unique gifts for parents/older relatives, and go for dvds/games for the younger ones.

I might find a couple of things online, but it's mostly a case of spending hours traipsing around the same shops that I do every year, picking shit up and thinking to myself, "This looks familiar... Have I gotten this for somebody before?"

I just seem to buy people the same sort of stuff every year. It's like one humongous feeling of deja vu. lol

My method can be summed up in two words: I don't. 😀 No, I'm not a Scrooge. We have a handful of little ones in the family so they get taken care of. What the adults want to do is up to them but I told everybody years ago I was dropping out, so please don't get me anything.

I know what you mean. Gift cards just happen to be the way I've been going for a few years. That or things like candles etc.....I Just wish people still had the "wow factor" in their lives, I guess.

Ha, beer was what I used to get my father for each notable occasion. Then it moved on to rum. I miss him now.

That's what things sound like they're going towards... idk, anything that I feel like I need I end up getting on my own. Years get a little long otherwise.

Menial planning like: making lists, buying gifts per family, thimking, planning, thimking... mind you, that also includes an episode of taking a full vacation away from all of them during the entire holiday season. 😀

I try to avoid shopping centers and malls during this time because lines and crowds make me anxious. I do my best to start coming up with ideas around Thanksgiving so i can take advantage of any black friday or cyber monday deals online. The rest ends up happening last minute of course.

I usually shop at stores where i can find some good deals. Usually I have a general list of what to get my family but sometimes it's just difficult to figure them out. Like I knew that my brother-in-law has an Xbox One but only lik 3 games so I went ahead and bought him a game that he's wanted, but only because it was on sale and I had the chance. The ladies of my family though, are hard to shop for because I, not being a lady, didn't know what to buy. Luckily Yankee Candle had a huge sale so I got lucky. So usually I just shop where to best deals are or if i genuinely know for a fact there is something that I know they'd love. Other than tat, I'm a terrible gift giver.
