Before I go on, just to clarify: Hollywood Brother, you've done nothing wrong to me - I still love you. 😛

No, what I'm referring to is, of course, the film industry.

I'll keep this short. Many of you are probably familiar with American McGee's "Alice". For those of you who aren't, it was a dark, twisted Silent Hill-esque version of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, in the form of a PC game.

A movie has been planned for some time, but has been stuck in development hell. Today, sniffing around for updates, I've discovered that the movie is officially off. That's it. There isn't going to be a Dark Alice any time soon.

Not five minutes before, I found out that Saw 5 (yes, Saw FIVE) is being released this month.

IS THERE NO JUSTICE!?!? STUPID BUM HEADS!!!!! I like Hollywood flicks as much as the next guy - brainless entertainment is fine by me - but finally, when a chance to make something different and original and potentially stunning comes up, they drop the whole thing and focus on sequels that spawn like rabbits. Hear that Saw? You're a rabbit! And rabbits are, for the most part, not scary! So put THAT in your pipe and smoke it!

NO JUSTICE AT ALL.

Hey hey hey I like Dark Alice as much as any other guy and I love Clive Barkers books but Saw is one twisted movie... I was so thrilled when I saw it... so no offense but Saw V rocks 😀

I happen to agree with you, Senshi. The game was cool, and would make a great movie. It's a shame that they put it on hold. I hope they pull their heads outa their <edit> and get to work.

Yeah it'd make a great movie.

And I'm not meaning to offend Saw fans - I saw Saw and it was good, and I saw Saw 3 and it was good also, and if people like Saw movies then by all means make them - but it frustrates me that they keep on making clones of the same movie over and over, but won't give something new (or at least new-ER) a try. 🙁 Such a wasted opportunity. Couldn't we have just one less Saw movie, or one less rubbish slasher (where there's one decapitation, one strangling, a couple other assorted deaths, a token wise-cracking black guy, two lovers who are the only survivors and a conclusion involving the setting catching fire) in favour of something that has seldom been done before?

who says they didn't do anything newer 🙂
Try Dead Silence (made by same people that made Saw)...

I'm just bitter because I REALLY wanted to see this movie. Fortunately, the rumours that Senshi's turn to alcohol and internetz-murder when bitterly disappointed have been proven untrue. But still, I can think of dozens and dozens of films I'd sooner have canceled in favour of Dark Alice. 😛

Open Water, you piece of slime!! Who the hell gave YOU the green light!? You would have sucked as a half-hour short movie, what makes you think you can drift about in the sea for ninety minutes and be INTERESTING!? Take your floating actors and your shark fins and give me my ticket money back or get off my stage, you fluff!

I hate the Saw movies. Almost with a passion, but not quite.

Dark Alice >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> any Saw movie, any day.

And Dead Silence is an awful movie.

>__< aww man, I'm sorry Senshi. I know how long you've been wanting to see that movie.

Seriously guys, he made me watch youtube clips of the videogame...and they gave me nightmares...😀

Well, granted it's small compensation, but the Tim Burton version of "Alice in Wonderland" that's in the works might be interesting. It's got Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter.

omg your shitting me!!!!!!?!!!!

i've been waiting for Alive since April 2004! i was dying to see it! i loved the idea of the movie, and Sarah Michelle Gellar as Alice. and the game was simply awesome.

but thanks for bringing this to my attention. i am totally pissed with hollywood now.

you are cruelly honest... have sympathy on people who love saw 🙁

there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel.

i see vague references for an upcoming show on the sci-fi network called Alice being led by Tim Burton

and it looks like American McGee is recreating his Alice for release in 2009, though nothing concrete yet on both accounts.

Ahh, but you still say I am honest.
So therefore you're asking me to have sympathy for people who love crap. XD

Hollywood lets me down every day that Michael Bay is allowed to walk freely.

Armageddon. Pearl Harbor. Transformers.

Only thing he ever did that I liked was Bad Boys, but then... COME ON. It's an early 90s shoot em up action flick. Any guy with Tourette's could make a movie like that. Please note Uwe Boll.

Well I'm still waiting for Ringworld... how long has that been in Limbo?

Uwe Boll and Michael Bay can't even be compared.

Uwe Boll makes crap for the fun of it. seriously, watch his House of the Dead video game to movie adaptation and know most B-movies are better than that crap.

you may not like michael bay flicks, but he's 100 times better than Uwe Boll.

the way the hollywood brother sees it is that hollywood will make the film if they think they can make money on it. if not the project gets sidelined and may get donei n the future. the hollywood brother think many good films probably have not been made but the problem is for the powers that be in hollywood to try to guess at what will become great cinema and what is just crap

I think that Hollywood is becoming (if not already) scared of trying anything new. So, they stick to the old formulas and beat old shit to death. Did anyone like the sequels to I know what you did last summer? Hell, I didn't even like the first one. Me and two friends went to go see it in the theater, and in short order we realized just how predictable it was and proceeded to MST3K the thing through the rest of it. It's kind of odd when you hear snickers and some laughter for a horror movie....

Actually, it may well be the Burton version that's iced the game version. Bad bad BAD idea to release the same-ish plot line close together and in competition with another. Especially if you gotta compete with Tim Buton and Johnny Depp.

The Alice game-movie would get crushed even if it were massively better. You gotta wait maybe 5-10 years before going at it again. You ain't gonna beat Burton when he's so much in his element as Wonderland is.

And the Aussie girl playing Alice will get some pervs to go, I'm sure (she's 18, don't worry...be dirty old men)

No he's not.

They both suck just as hard. One makes shitty video game remakes. One makes shitty original movies.

Both are shitty.

Shitty shitty shitty shitty shitty shitty shitty shitty.

Dude, I can let Bay live.

Uwe Boll....

I mean......dude......no....just no.

He neads turned into Nerf footballs.
