Inspired by JimBoy's 25 biggest flops thread, what movies got landed with horrible reputations, but truly didn't deserve them?

There are two for me.

Waterworld is a big one. Honestly, what's not to like? It was a decent, enjoyable and rewatchable action movie, and the premise was pretty original, you have to admit. Sure, it grossed a loss, but I never take budgets into account when I watch movies. I usually judge them based on their rewatchability.

Biggest of the big though is the live action Street Fighter movie starring Jean Claude Van Damme and Raul Julia (Gomez Addams) as Guile and General M Bison respectively. It's a goofy, colourful, action-packed movie about the good guys in various forms trying to bring down Bison's plans for world domination. It's simple. Every single character from Street Fighter II to Super Street Fighter II Turbo gets a cameo. There's a lot of funny one-liners and decent comedy moments, and the film is styled so that you feel like you're watching the game in comic-book form. It's decent, different, and an affectionate adaptation of the game that doesn't take itself too seriously, unlike many major game adaptations that have flopped.

I have to agree with the streetfighter one. Raul Julia was a fantastic artist, and this was sadly his last work before he died.

my most underrated flicks would be The Sound of Thunder from JimBoy's list, i saw a skit of it done when i was a kid on Ray Bradbury's show on the sci-fi channel. it was one of my favorite sc-fi stories from sci-fi legend Ray Bradbury. and to see it on the big screen gives me goose-bumps too. the actual story was shorter, with a sad ending, but the movie was just as good to me.

another was Poseidon, i really enjoyed that movie, and i never laughed so hard from someone dying than when "Lucky" Larry bought it, hehe.

Oh lord, yes... Zhangief made that movie for me, though. He was so much the good-natured, hulking brute who was led on by the bad guy and he was just so lovably stupid that even the most idiotic jokes he pulled were worth a laugh.

"Quick! Change the channel!!" priceless.

The late 70s version, carrying the full title of "The Posiedon Adventure" starring Gene Hackman and Roddy McDowell was better IMO.
