Ross got to OKC, and suddenly began feeling "guilty" that he was there.
While Ross was at the office with Fritz and Steve, Ross realized his error and said.
"Guys, you know how much I love being down here, spending time with both of you, and all of us doing deals, but I realize I left at a very bad time. First, there is a project for Alan Hell sitting in my office with a deadline, second I am not feeling well, and third, I have to go back to New York for a birthday celebration with both my Dad and my uncle over the weekend. I'm going to stay two days, two shows, then I have to go home, and focus on Mister Hell, however long that takes, even if I cant come back for a month, okay?" Ross said.
"Sure, partner, whatever you need to do" Fritz said.
Ross then went into his private office, closed the door, took out his cell phone, and called Kayley.
"Partner of a man who is not prudent here" Kayley said, in almost a joking, but cold tone.
"Okay, teacher, you dont have to rub it in. I called to tell you something. I realize that I was wrong for leaving when I have this project for Alan Hell sitting in the office. Plus, I have to see my Dad and my uncle for their birthdays this weekend. I should not have come down here this week, but since I am already here, I'm not coming home today. Two shows, one today, one tomorrow, home tomorrow night, then to Alan Hell's project, my Dad and uncle's birthdays, and I wont come back to OKC for a few weeks okay?" Ross said.
"Very nice, now you are thinking sensibly" Kayley said.
"See you tomorrow night, teacher" Ross said.
Fritz and Steve had already prepared a list of investors which they showed to Ross. Two hundred fifty, one hundred at the field, and another 150 via Zoom. The men went to the field, did the show, and at the end of the day, about fifty people committed to sign up.
The men went for an early dinner, and then Ross got back to his hotel in time to watch the Braves and Phillies play their playoff game. If the Braves did not win that night, their season would be over. Sure enough, their season was over that night, as their starting pitcher got drubbed, and the Braves lost by a score of 8-3. Ross was pissed, but he knew that the Braves had won the World Series the year before,. so he had to accept it.
The next day, Ross, Fritz and Steve went to the field again, another two hundred fifty people showed up to view the field, and seventy five signed up. One hundred twenty five out of five hundred potential investors, not bad.
"Okay, at least we got something. Now you all go back to New York and get back to work for Mister Hell. Hopefully we will see you next month, no sooner" Fritz said.
"Yes, Mister P" Ross said.,
Ross took a six pm flight home to NY, arriving at JFK at 11, and was home at midnight.
"One hundred twenty five out of five hundred signed up out of five hundred, not bad,. I told Mister P and I am telling you, no leaving until the project with Hell is either finished, or well on its way okay?" Ross said.
Kayley kissed Ross.
"That sounds prudent"
As Ross never went into the office the day after an OKC trip, Ross met Ross's uncle and Ross's father for lunch at an Italian place on the Upper East side of Manhattan.
Ross's father, who had nearly passed away earlier that year, looked positively dreadful, even though at 82, Ross's father still had the same zest for life, and sense of humor.
During the lunch, it was clear that Ross's father was not feeling well, and Ross's father said to his brother. "I dont think I can make your party tomorrow, I feel terrible"
Ross's uncle said he understood. Ross told his uncle that he really needed to take care of something, and was also not feeling well after the trip, and Ross's uncle agreed that he understood if Ross could not attend the party.
All in all, the lunch went fine.
When Ross got home that night, Kayley started in.
"No begging off, Market Boy. I know that all you did was have lunch with your Dad and your uncle today. You did not go into the office unless you did something that you never do, go in the day after an OKC trip" Kayley said.
"No, I just had lunch with Dad and my uncle. My Dad is not going to the party tomorrow, and neither are we. I know it's Saturday, but please let me go in for even four to five hours just to try and get this Hell project started. I will be home by noon or 1, I promise. Victor is coming in to be with me, and I'm paying him double time to help me on a Saturday" Ross said.
"Okay, no problem. As long as you take me out to dinner tomorrow night, no clock watching. I will meet my sisters for lunch, or just go shopping, and blow money, okay, market boy?" Kayley said.
Ross kissed Kayley. "Yes, Oh Dom Teacher. "
Ross and Kayley made love. Ross fell asleep, but was not watching the clock as it was a Saturday.
When Ross got to the office, he thanked Victor for joining him.
"Vic, Thank You for helping me today. Double time hourly pay to you for helping me with this. Maybe if the office is quiet I can figure out how to get started without all the phones ringing and people here" Ross said.
"Thank You, Ross, glad to help" Vic said.
Ross sighed. "Vic , maybe I'm being paranoid. I guess, this is one time in business Ross C was caught by surprise. With Alan Hell being our biggest investor in RFS Energy, I did not think there was any way he would ever want to reorganize his marketing campaign to bring in more business for his law firm. You and I both know that I left to go to OKC to run away from what I have to do for Mister Hell. Kayley read me the riot act about leaving. I know that she was one hundred percent right, and as you can see, I'm home after thirty six hours. Even if I have to sit out a deal or two, no matter how many times Fritz and Steve call, I must either finish, or be almost finished with this project for Mister Hell until I go anywhere. If I do that, I will be fine" Ross said.
"I'm here to help you, Ross, any way you need me. I know that goes true for John, and anyone else you ask to help with this project" Vic said.
"Okay, then let's see what we can figure out"
Ross started by deeply examining Alan's former marketing campaign for his law firm, and then looked over the broad outline of what Alan said he wanted , combined with the marketing campaigns of other successful law firms in both New York City and around the country.
Finally, Ross was coming up with ideas and his mind had cleared out.
Would Ross be able to proceed "Full Speed Ahead" and do and finish Alan's marketing campaign as Ross usually did with Ross's most important marketing clients, or would Ross run into bumps in the road?
That would all be seen.
