We went to Disney world and drank around a few choice countries around the world!

This was our first Thanksgiving since cancer took my mom, fuck cancer, and so we'd normally turkey it up then watch Christmas Story and Christmas Vacation.

Kinda like this potential new tradition though lol

Not a tradition per se but rather an interesting tidbit.

Here in China, I see more and more people sort of "appropriating" Thanksgiving. It is naturally devoid of any of the significance Americans attach to it, but it sort of becomes a day during which people express their gratitude (literal "thanks giving") to those around them that matter, often with very cute and surprising displays of affection or forgiveness.

One example among many, in a company I used to work at, I was teaming with a young woman who was very fearful of her boss, a stern (albeit stunning) older woman, who was kind of the female equivalent of Clint Eastwood in Dirty Harry. One day on Thanksgiving (it's not a holiday here, we had to be at the office) my young colleague had to tell her tough superior that she had screwed up with the previous day's tasks. She went to her, anticipating scathing, hurtful remarks and potential punishment, but much to our astonishment that older lady gave her a large smile and said:

"You know what? Today is Thanksgiving: I'll let this one slip. Besides, I never had the opportunity to thank you for the awesome work you've been doing since you joined. Just learn from your mistake, and do not repeat it".

Thanksgiving spirit, everyone: be grateful to the people around y'all
