Which ones do you like/don't like? I just watched the new nightmare on elm street movie and it made me wanna ask you all.

Ugh...I can't even stand to watch that abortion. IMO, most horror remakes are terrible and do more harm to the genre than good.

Yeah I thought it was horrible haha and I agree alot of remakes of horror movies are bad. Some aren't though

If you care about things like the original novel, for example, from which a given horror movie might be made, it's difficult not to rate the second "The Shining" over the original Jack Nicholson version. I've even been to the actual hotel used in Shining #2,... where Stephen King stayed one night and got the idea for the book,... and faithfulness to the original is a big thing for me.... Just the fact that King wanted the remake should tell you a lot.

yeppers they dont make them like they used too

"Abbott and Costello Meet The Kardashians" was a little over the top!! I like Rob Zombie's Halloween redux. The fact that Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Halloween all had so many sequels to start with(some even intertwined) means the remake bar is not really raised too high. Some remakes still manage to slither under anyway! With the advances in CGI it will be intereresting to see what "something wicked this way comes" in the future.

I really liked the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre with Jessica Biel. What can I say, R. Lee Emery as a deranged southerner does it for me. 😛

The new Friday the 13th was watchable. Not great, mind you, but entertaining enough to not leave me pissed that I paid to see it. John Carpenter's The Thing is one of the greatest horror films ever made, and the Dawn of the Dead remake was actually pretty fun to watch. Other than that, most horror remakes have been total garbage.

Do old remakes count? I think the Hammer films beat the hell out of Universal when it comes to your classic Dracula/Frankenstein movies.

I actually liked the classic dracula and of course bram stokers dracula. I tried to like the new omen movie but that didn't happen lol

I'm not normally a fan of horror movie re-makes but I did enjoy the Rob Zombie version of the classic halloween.
