Ok Folks,

The question before this esteemed body of people is this:

For you, What was the all time scariest/creepiest moment in a horror movie?

What moment made your ass come off the seat? What moment made you feel like someone slipped a cold, wet t-shirt on you?

Basically if it scared you or feaked you out, or just made you feel icky, let's hear it.

that moment for me is from the movie psycho (1960). the classic shower scene. the time i saw it i loved it an it freaked me out too. another one is from wes craven's new nightmare (1994). when freddy jump out of the closet out of nowhere that scared the crap out of me and it was also cool too..

the original Exorcist....you name the part. Scared the sh@%t out of me as a kid, still scares the sh@%t out of me now. 🙂

the movie is "The Changeling". Haunted house movie. Two scenes in particular.

A man is renting a house, recovering from the deaths of his wife and daughter in a car accident. The house is haunted by a boy who was in a wheelchair (which is still in the attic) and was killed by his father.

In one scene, the man decides to get rid of a rubber ball. It was his daughter's. He takes it out, and drops it off a bridge, into the water. When he gets home, the ball, soaking wet, comes bouncing down the stairs.

Second scene, a woman goes into the attic, and when she gets to the top of the stiars, the wheelchair spins around to face her.

Yes, the original Exorcist was the scariest movie I ever saw too! The creepiest part I remember was where raised words appeared on the possessed girl's body.

Little known Barbara Hershey movie called The Entity. Scared the shit out of me, my brother and his friends. The scariest part was when the malevolent rapist spirit attacked Barbara Hershey when she was driving. Even scarier than that...its supposedly based on a true story!!!

Submitted for your approval...

"The Haunting" (1963) There are several moments in this masterpiece from director Robert Wise and original author Shirley Jackson. For me, the most paralyzing was when the chief researcher's wife (played by Lois Maxwell), who has been missing for several hours, suddenly appears at an open hatch to the attic, stares wildly at the other characters for an instant, then disappears.

"Silence of the Lambs" The moment when Lecter sat up in the ambulance.

One more...

I remember seeing a movie called "Zombies of Mora Tau" on late night television when I was a child. Early on, there's a scene where a woman who has just arrived on the island is being driven to her destination in the country. A figure appears in the middle of the road, caught for an instant in the taxi's headlights. The driver doesn't brake or swerve, just rockets on. The woman screams, "Stop! You hit a man back there!"
The driver doesn't even look around, just growls,"That wasn't a man...it was one of them!"
That little exchange raised the hair on my head like nothing I'd ever seen and stayed with me for...well, until now. (I saw the movie again a few years ago and it is wretched. But, boy, did it creep me out back in the sixties!)

oh, yeah! Just the way she looked too. I see clips or just pictures of her today, and for some reason it still affects me. 😀

Oh man, there are quite a few:

Poltergiest: The scene where the clown doll attacks the boy under his bed

Suspiria: The scene where the main girl is combing her hair and she start combing maggots out of it.

John Carpenters The Thing: The scene in the operating room where the guy's head grows legs and starts walking around upside down.

Phantasm: The scene at the end where The Tall Man is reflected in the mirror.

Audition: There is a scene at the end where the girl that the director is wooing drugs him and saws off his leg with a meat wire.

The Omen: The graveyard scene where they open the grave of the mother and find the bones of a jackyl

Rose Red: The scene where the nerdy guy is asleep and then wakes up to find a demonic corpse in his bed

The Ghost: After the couple finally kill the crippled old man, they are woken up in the middle of the night by his wheel chair stalking the hallways.

Hm, this is a toughie cuz lately it seems "Scary" means somethin jumps loudly at screen, but several scenes that continue to spook me

Poltergeist-when carol anne is heard running upstairs despite her being in the beyond and all you hear is her running and crying for help(i swear i heard steps in my attic afterwards)

Pet Semetary-When the lil boy gets hit by a truck i cant watch, then when he comes at his grandfather with a razor all evil looking

The dentist-any scene in that god damn movie

Friday the 13th part VI-when jason is hacking the groundkeeper, some guy is watching, as jasons about to hack again, he turns and looks at him(you)

John Carpenters "The Fog"-This just creeps me whenever im outside fishin or by some body of water and a fog bank comes in.

Not really horror but the 3rd episode of the 6th season of Buffy, when this ghost comes due to buffy returning and posesses people. One scene was anya walking in the room eeriely cackling and slicing her face, creeped me out

I'll toss one in for you folks, but I don't want to ruin it.

Check out a movie called The Sentinel.

And while you are watching, try and imagine if the things you see happening, actually happened in your own apartment. (you'll think twice on sitting in the dark again).

Oh, and one more, there was an English film called The Vanishing...easily one of the most disturbing endings ever.
