We have the best concert thread......how about those awful ones?

For me, I'd say The Firm(1984), totally boring and meandering. And no Bad Company or Zeppelin songs even though Paul Rogers and Jimmy Page were there.

That or a 1998 Van Halen show with Gary Cherone. I don't even have to bother explaining that one.

Same one: Irene Cara :blaugh:

Seriously, though, Bowie's concert one year at the CNE was disastrous - he only played for something like a half hour.

Cheers.😀

1984 - the Jackson's Victory Tour. It wouldn't have been bad, but it was WAYYYY up in the rafters. This is when they did the thing where you had to buy 4 tickets, sight unseen, and my sister loved them. But I bet the stub I saved is worth $$$.

The B-52 one I was locked out of when they shut the doors doesn't count, does it?

Jefferson Starship

Capital Centre in Largo MD. 1976. At a time when rock concerts were in general a level or two above awesome, this one was awful. Grace Slick looked like an aging bloated ***** on stage. The only reason we went at all was because Jeff Beck was on first. What a contrast. Beck put on a powerful show. After Jeff Beck came Starship. I listened to about 3 or 4 songs and then left in disgust.

Back in the late 70's. Giants Stadium. East Rutherford New Jersey.
"Jersey Jam"(the first). Pouring rain. Journey,Aerosmith,Steve Miller Band a couple of others I cannot remember. The sound system sucked. The bands had a horrible day that was clearly con-taaaaaaa-gious as everybody just plain sucked and we all got soaked, stoned and drunk making matters not so much better but less cared about.

:sowrong: :wow: 😱

The worst band I saw was an opening act, if that counts. It was the same Rush tour in '92 where they played with Primus in Binghamton. However, I caught them two months earlier in Albany with the Vinnie Moore Band. VMB was a Joe Satriani-style metal instrumental band, and whoever was running there sound should have been fired. You couldn't hear the guitar at all, the bass was very low and muddy and the drums were right in your face. So Rush's opening act in Albany that night was a 45-minute drum solo. This surprised me as Rush has always had great opening acts when they used to use them. I've seen Blue Oyster Cult, Mr. Big, Bonham, UFO, Primus, Marillion, Max Webster and a slew of other great acts open for Rush, but Vinnie Moore totally blew donkeys, man.

The worst headline show I ever saw (if you can count it as such) was some country music jam in Virginia in '92. My girlfriend at the time was huge into hee-haw type music, but she was hot and into tickling, so I forgave her that. However, while we were on vacation in Virginia, she dragged me to some Down-Home Oklahoma Grab-Ass in Raliegh which just sucked. Don't even ask me the name of the acts, they all sound the same to me, but I remember that Clint Black was there and his band sucked, the sound was static and he kept asking for audience participation during every friggin' chorus of every friggin' song...

Styx, REO Speedwagon, and Journey..

Well actually a Black Sabbath Concert where a guy behind me puked on me.

Oh, I forgot...add a Poison concert to my list from 1990 that I got dragged to. Their guitarist did what had to been the WORSE guitar solo in the history of music. Completely out of tune, wrong notes played for almost 8 minutes, but it seemed like 8 hours! And when he's done, what does the singer say? "Thank you, C.C., that was a beautiful guitar solo!"

Actually my worst experience was taking my baby sister to see Menudo!!!! My sis who is 7 years my junior was in love with them and my folks wouldn't let her go unless big sis chaperoned! Not only did I sit through this boring concert to the tune of silly little girls screaming at this so called music group but I ended up spraining my ankle on the way out!!

Yuk!!!!!!!!!!!!

I might get some flack for this one, so I put my jacket on! 😀

It was the Rolling Stones! At the old JFK/Municipal in Philadelphia back in September '81, future site of Live-Aid, and since demolished to make room for the new arena that's changed its name a hundred and seventeen fucking times. They were awful! Keith, of course, was unaware of what planet he was on, and Mick's voice sounded like Froggy's from the old "Our Gang" shorts. Even worse, though...Journey was the warm up act. This was during Journey's peak year, the year of the 'Escape' album, but that never mattered to Stones fans. Steve Perry made the mistake of thanking the crowd for Journey's number one stature, and that was it, you'd have thought there was gonna be a lynching. The Stones then came on, and I'm telling you, Bar Mitzvah acts were more entertaining. Big myth shattered.
There was also the Starland Vocal Band at Great Adventure a few years earlier, but that fell more under the category of "Ludicrous", although it could easily cross over...
🙄

I saw the Go-Go's reunite at The Bronco Bowl - and they were mean to us! Their music was GREAT, but their opening band was White Cross. They were'nt bad, but their music style wasn't compatible with the Go-Gos, so the crowd turned on them. I felt sorry for them; they weren't awful, but the band's music just didn't match the crowd. At one point in the show, the Go-Gos were all happy and enthusiastic and asked "... and how about our opening band!" Major boos and howling enused, and it made the Go-Gos mad and they started chastizing the crowd. And then, after the show, when they exited the building, they didn't sign any albums or anything, which was kind of a nice traditional thing at the Bronco Bowl.

Never saw The Stones live, but we saw their concert film of that 1981 tour called "Let's Spend the Night Together". We saw this in a Showcase Cinemas and it was just like like Knox described. Absolutley AWFUL.....I think we eventually walked out half-way thru.

And I've heard that about recent Go Go's concerts, they played a show here a few years back. During the concert they wanted to start a "dance contest" with the audience, then they started bickering with each other how the stupid dance contest should start!

Back in the early eighty's I took my daughter to see Juice Newton. Juice was so stoned she forgot the words to her songs and could barely stand up while leaning on the microphone stand. My kid was only 8, but she knew Juice was high within five minutes.

I had to go with my cousin to a boyband concert I dont remember which one), there was one of those open seating policies, and I feel bad for all the people who went to get in line at 5am to get a good seat, beacuse once we were let in, the ushers told us to get in the places near the stage it cost an extra $15 or $20, which, after paying $40 for my ticket, I was not happy about
