Here are a few of my hypothesises.

1. Kobe has peaked and along with age he has hit the wall and is on a slow spiral downward

2. It was just a matter of time before Ron Artest became a no-show .

3.Age has slowed down Fisher as well

4.Andrew Byrum can't stay healthy . If Phil Jackson is already limiting your minutes to try to keep him healthy at 23 then you have major problems

this is a blueprint the 93 Bulls did..

they went thru a lot before getting healthy at the right time, and went on a roll thru the playoffs to get their first three-peat...I see similarities here...besides its who is playing the best playoff time and not who is the better team

Good point but I don't remember Bulls being totally embarassed by bottom feeders like the Bobcats and Cavs. I don't think Lakers have any major players with major injuries .

Look at the Mavs, they have been hit hard by injuries and have 2nd best record in westen Conference. Dirk missed games and Butler is out for season . Roddy Beaubois finally played in first game of season last night

Even the Lakers management is panicking . They are trying to dump Artest and his salary; what team would be stupid enuff to do that deal . They are interested in trading for rent-a-player Carmelo but balked when Denver wanted actually wanted something in return. I guess the Lakers just expected another Pau Gasol for Critterton and Aaron Mckie

Jordan won like 3 championships at an age older than kobe is right now. I don't think "peaked" is the issue. He's one man and most of his supporting cast isn't great.

Primetime arrives in 5, 4, 3, 2....

You know me well don't you? lol

Why are the Lakers bad? Simple. They're bored and tired. As I discussed with other Laker fans at my job, this team is not a "three-peat" attempting team technically. They are a "4-peat trying to get to the Finals" team. This particular group has already gone to 3 straight Finals. It is very difficult to go to 4 straight obviously. The regular season is a chore to them mentally. It's a "let's hurry up and get to the playoffs" type mindset. They have played more games in the last four years than any other team. Obviously it will take a toll.

The loss to the Bobcats I actually expected. For some unknown reason, we can't beat Charlotte. I don't know what it is, but we can't beat them. It does get rather annoying. The Cavs loss pissed me off in two ways. 1) The Lakers mentally checked out for the All-Star break before the Cavs game and it totally showed. Pissed me off to high heaven losing to that crappy team. 2) Where the HELL WAS THE ENERGY the Cavs had against the Lakers when they played Lebron the first time? If they played with that same passion instead of letting Lebron ram it up their ass, they would have won that game.

The Lakers will be ok. I am sure we will have more stupid losses and we will not get home court advantage in the West. I will be cool with HCA over the Eastern Conference. The Lakers, when they are tuned in, can beat anyone. The sad thing is, they are still #3 in the West and people think they're horrible. I kind of like that criticism because that means the expectations are WAY high. I rather deal with that than "you guys suck royally each year".

I look at it this way. Until a team beats us in the playoffs, we are still the team to beat. If they fold up in the playoffs, then changes will have to be made. The Lakers are still the champs until someone puts them away.

The bored and tired rhetoric won't fly again .

If thats the case the Lakers ownership and management OWES it to season ticketholders to completely gut this team and start over . I certainly wouldn't buy tickets to 41 games to watch a team that could give a rats ass .

These guys are professionals and once the game starts their inherent competitive nature takes over and the drive to win is paramount .

The best of the best such as Bird, Magic, Jordan , Jabaar, and Duncan wanted to win EVERYTIME they stepped on the court . According to you thats NOT the case evidently with Kobe ''Steak '' Bryant . Therefore he should NEVER EVER be mentioned with the all-time greats for this very reason

Still the defending champs, all teams have downturns during the year... You should be drug tested if Kobe is not mentioned with your all-time greats. 5 rings, 3x MVP, 13 all-star selections, 10x all defensive team, and if the USA did not have him in the Gold Medal Game against Spain in 2008, they don't win. I am not saying he's the best but top 10 easily and when it's all over, maybe top 5.

Such a vulgar and disgusting statement....ram it up their a$$? Cmon' primetime, all previous disagreements aside, I'd never say anything like this about anyone's team.:sowrong:

I wasn't even coming into this thread especially since I didn't know the Cavs won against the Lakers until yesterday. I'm glad they won but IMO it's a case of every dog having its day; finally the Cavs took advantage of a Lakers team that just wasn't all there.

The local media is running the story to death but I'm not overly excited about it. Call me when the Browns beat the Steelers (about once every 10 years or so) and I'll jump on that bandwagon.

People can call the Cavs crappy and make all the jokes they want but outside of those horrible losses to the Lakers and Heat, their games were close losses. Their problem is obvious; they don't have a premier player and no closer. If Dan Gilbert wants to sell tickets next season, he'd better take every advantage of postseason drafts and free agency. Now that he doesn't have Mr. James handcuffing the organization, he should be able to spend some of that money he's getting from some very loyal fans on rebuilding the team.

I think you missed my point ...

Yes all teams will get beat , thats just part of sports. But to use the excuse they are bored and tired. I don't think so . I can't ever remember the greatest of the greats getting bored once they stepped on the floor . Jordan , Bird and Magic damn sure didn't get bored in the heat of competition ; they wanted to win win win . If the lame excuse of being bored is the reason the Lakers got beat against lousy teams then Kobe isn't much of a leader and doesn't deserve to be mentioned with the true elites

I am telling you, the blueprint they are following is that of the '93 Bulls...and you will see a carbon copy played out this year....you'll see

Kis, am I wrong in my assessment? The Cavs let Lebron whoop their asses in front of the Cleveland faithful. The showed no heart, no passion, no energy, nothing. The Heat utterly humiliated them. You would think after all the hype and controversey and emotion, they would play hard that game. Nope. They pretty much took it in the ass from Lebron. I lost respect for that team after that game. I actually felt bad for the City of Cleveland. Then they completely stunk it up. But instead, they played hard against the Lakers. That's why I was miffed.

Flock, man you hate Kobe more than anyone I know. When his career is over, without a shadow of a doubt, he will be considered one of the greatest players of all time. You keep nitpicking on Kobe and comparing him to Jordan. Guess what? I don't give a flying f**k about Jordan's legacy. Was Jordan a Laker? Nope. Who cares then? No Laker fan gives a rat's ass about Jordan and what he means to everyone OUTSIDE OF LAKER LAND. Jordan can have all the accolades he wants. He can have the masses kiss his rings and ass all they like. Kobe Bryant is a Laker. All we care about is "when is the next championship?" and "Is Kobe winning championships for the Lakers?" We do not ask ourselves "Is Kobe better than Jordan?" We really don't care. So why do you keep bringing up Jordan whenever Kobe is discussed.

Seriously Laker hater, ask yourself this. "Has Primetime ever talked about how Kobe is better than Jordan?" I haven't. EVER. Now ask yourself, "why HASN'T Primetime compared Kobe and Jordan?" Well, I don't care about Jordan's legacy that's why..... So here's a newsflash for you so that maybe you can shut your piehole about Kobe vs Jordan. And I quote (in the words of Michael Cole) Michael Jordan is BETTER than Kobe Bryant. There! You feel better now? See you at the parade in June though in downtown Los Angeles....

Yes, the Lakers are bored and tired. Think about it, does the regular season TRULY matter in the grand scheme of things? At the end of the day, if you are winning titles, the regular season is just there to fill time. The Lakers NEVER celebrate winning the Pacific Division. We only pay attention to the regular season to gain Home Court advantage (so much for that this year...). These Lakers are who they are. You can piss and moan about how Kobe isn't a leader and how it is inexcusable about their lack of focus, but guess what? NO ONE and I mean NO ONE remembers what you do in the regular season. The playoffs determine if you are remebered or not. Ask the Cavs. They were the #1 seed two seasons in a row. Are they remembered for their regular season prowess, or that they flamed out in the playoffs?

you are a hoot ...

You are the one ALWAYS talking about Jordan ...lmao

yes the regular season means alot . It pays the crazy ass salaries these guys make . Its also crucial to build team chemistry

EVERYONE is a Lakers hater according to you . I think you believe that you are the only TRUE Lakers in existence.

The truth of the matter is the first NBA team I rooted for was the Lakers . That changed for me when we got our Mavericks in 1980 . So once again you are clueless :waterballoon:

You know why I don't like Kobe ''Steak '' Bryant . Because you have shoved him ups everyones ass for so long . No matter what he does you are his excuse maker . Must be nice to be on the Kobe payroll .

Why not just give the Cavaliers credit for playing a solid game? They're already struggling along, the joke of the NBA, why not say they just out played the Lakers on that night?

I'm a hoot? Let's do something simple. In this thread, who was the first to mention Jordan? Me or you?

The regular season in the grand scheme of things is meaningless. True or False? If you do not win the NBA championship, having the best record in the regular season means a lot.

Not everyone is a Laker hater. YOU ARE a Laker hater. If Kobe played for any other team, you wouldn't give a damn about Kobe. I get that a lot from Kobe haters. They claim they are long ago Laker fans, but don't like them anymore because of Kobe Bryant (not necessarily in your case). That is a bunch of crap because Laker fans want to see the team win championships. Kobe Bryant has brought championships. Any true Laker fans support whoever is on their team trying to win championships. Hell, I even allowed myself to cheer for Karl Malone when he was a Laker. I thought I was insane at that point, but he was wearing the purple and gold.

You know why I brag about Kobe? Because he is the best player in the NBA and plays for the Lakers. Plus, after all the people criticized him, I defended him. That's what fans do.

Why not just give the Cavaliers credit for playing a solid game? They're already struggling along, the joke of the NBA, why not say they just out played the Lakers on that night?

They did outplay the Lakers that night. BUT, my point is, the Lakers mentally checked out which pissed me off, AND where the hell was Cleveland's energy when Lebron first showed up? If the played like they did against the Lakers, they beat Lebron...

AND where the hell was Cleveland's energy when Lebron first showed up? If the played like they did against the Lakers, they beat Lebron...

You have gnawed on that bone for months now........time to let it go.

They didn't have the energy, they let Mr. James singlehandedly take them to the woodshed, and they miserably lost the game.

If I can accept these simple facts surely you can.

Kis, am I wrong in my assessment? The Cavs let Lebron whoop their asses in front of the Cleveland faithful. The showed no heart, no passion, no energy, nothing. The Heat utterly humiliated them. Not only is your "assessment" wrong, it was vulgar and disgusting.

I've never made such comments about ANYONE'S team; it would've been great if you didn't do it.....but hope springs eternal huh?:sowrong:

It's not an excuse for what you said and I'm certainly not expecting you to see that you were wrong so......maybe you should just move on.

Yes, the Lakers are bored and tired. Think about it, does the regular season TRULY matter in the grand scheme of things? At the end of the day, if you are winning titles, the regular season is just there to fill time. The Lakers NEVER celebrate winning the Pacific Division. The Cavs "flamed out" as you so eloquently put it, because their leader was mentally already in South Beach IMO. Where the leader goes, the team tends to follow; you're an ex athlete, you know how that happens.

Is it an excuse? No, but it is a reason why it happened.

Again you're gnawing at an old bone; the Cavs are taking their lumps until the season's over and can bring in the personnel necessary to at least become a competitive team again. Besides as I mentioned in an earlier post, although their losses are many, most of them were close games so they're not that far away with some pruning, fine tuning, and tweaking. Get 1-2 premier players (never trust one man to carry a team EVER again) and 1-2 closers and you'll see major improvement.

And your team being "bored and tired" is no excuse for lackluster performance. You're really angry because the Cavs simply outplayed them that day and they didn't need Mr James to do it. If you're going to stick to that excuse, then just suck it up and accept the consequences of your team not giving a damn and allowing themselves to be beaten by one of the (if not the) worst teams in the league.

Maybe you need glasses .

I mentioned Jordan first , that is correct . But I also mentioned other players as well. It was YOU that focused in on Jordan . Thats because it eats at you that a Bull, and not a Laker ; is considered the best of all-time.

The regular season is meaningless , huh ????

Last time I checked you still have to qualify for the playoffs . Lakers didn't even qualify for playoffs in 2004-2005 season . The NBA didn't just say you are the Lakers so we will let you be in the playoffs anyway .

By the way, if regular season doesn't matter then why do you follow it anyway....yea, thats what I thought .

Prime, its the built in excuses with you thst get really really old . Maybe the Lakers win another championship this year . But you are already making EXCUSES if they don't. It's the regular season anyway, it doesn't matter . So at least save your excuses for the post season .

I wonder why people criticized Kobe. lets see..

1.He basically ran off Shaq after winning championships together because he didn't want to share any credit

2.He supposedly cheated on his wife Vanessa and all his sponsors dropped so fast

3.Phil Jackson retires and rights a book saying what a primadonna he is.

4. He has asked to be traded from Lakers more than once. Thats TRUE loyalty to Lakers organization.

5. Febuary 15th 2011..... He alledgely gets a paternity suit after Lakers loss to Magic

Are you serious? I guess you didn't read my "Who gives a flying f**k about Jordan's legacy" comment. Dude, YOU are the one who constantly compare Kobe to Jordan. You are always saying he's not a leader and how he could never match up with Jordan. I really hate to break it to you, but the Jordan means nothing to me. Did I enjoy watching him? Sure, just like everyone else. But I didn't fawn all over him and call him the greatest. Why? He wasn't wearing purple and gold.

To your five points you brought up...

1. You live in a damn cave if you still believe Kobe ran off Shaq. I guess you STILL haven't heard it was Jerry Buss NOT wanting to pay Shaq $30 million a year. Man, it's been made public. SHAQ HAS EVEN SAID IT WAS ABOUT MONEY. You just hate Kobe so you hang onto that stupid theory.

2. He cheated on his wife. Yes, he did. I didn't like him for that. But guess what? JORDAN CHEATED ON HIS WIFE TOO! So your point is what?

3. Phil does call him a primadonna. Like this is news to anyone. But yet, Phil has come back and works with Kobe now, winning 2 titles, possibly a third this year. Yeah, Phil sure hates working with this primadonna doesn't he?

4. Yes, he has asked to be traded. If the Lakers brass wanted to keep Kobe on a team with Smush Parker and Kwame Brown, you would want to get traded too. Notice after his "trade tirade" the Lakers ended up with Pau Gasol and has won two titles. Bottom line is, he didn't leave. Since you love Jordan so much, didn't Jordan threaten to retire if Phil wasn't re-signed as coach? When Phil left the Bulls, SO DID JORDAN. Kobe is not the only player to pull a power play.. Again, your point is?

5. Allegedly? hahahahahahahahahaha you're bringing up a paternity suit about a NBA player. Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize the NBA is full of choir boys and Kobe is the first one to get an ALLEGED paternity suit... Dude, you're reaching....

Flock, I cordially invite you to another Laker parade this June celebrating the franchise's 17th world title. There, you can tell me how Kobe isn't a leader and how he is a primadonna and will never be as great as Jordan. Deal?

Kis, are you really offended by the "up the ass" comment? I didn't realize there was a difference between "taking to the woodshed" and "up the ass" when describing the beatdown. I guess you also forgot to read why I was writing that comment. I was pissed off at the Lakers for not bringing their "A" game or even their "C" game to play the Cavs. I saw how hard the Cavs play against the Lakers. Good for them. But why on Earth could they not bring that same intensity against Lebron?

As for the regular season, people get real. The regular season is meaningless (pay attention to the next few words...) IN THE GRAND SCHEME OF THINGS. Do us Laker fans want to see us have an amazing record and beat everyone in front of us? Of course. Do we get frustrated by seeing their lackluster behavior during games? Of course we do. Is this "bored and tired" philosophy something we enjoy? Of course not. But when we look at THE GRAND SCHEME OF THINGS, if we win the title in June, who cares about what happened in the regular season? We lost to the Bobcats, Grizzlies, a whole lot of bottom feeder teams in the 2009-2010 regular season, but guess what? We won the title last June and those losses mean absolutely nothing. So you people can focus on the regular season all you want. What matters is JUNE. Think the Cavs or Mavericks would sacrifice being the top seed in the playoffs and trying to win every game in the regular season to be the champs in June? Seriously ask yourself that. The Lakers 3peat team of 2002 was not the top seed. Do I remotely care that we weren't the top seed? NOPE.

Look, the loss to the Cavs shouldn't have happened, but the fact of the matter is the Lakers were at the end of a road trip before the All Star break and they had already checked out mentally. It sucks, and it's disappointing, but happens.

To be honest, this idea that it's now ok to jump on the Lakers and take 3 losses in a row as iron clad proof that the team is caught in some irreversible downward spiral has more than a touch of wishful thinking to it.

Kis, are you really offended by the "up the ass" comment? I didn't realize there was a difference between "taking to the woodshed" and "up the ass" when describing the beatdown.

Are you trying to tell me these two statements mean the same thing? You've got to be kidding! "Taking to the woodshed" is an old expression used because the woodshed was where you got your behind whipped back in the day. Your vulgar comment of "up the ass" brings mental pictures that are far less than desirable. Again, I know you're not going to change your mind about it so please just move it forward.

I guess you also forgot to read why I was writing that comment. Asked and answered primetime; just let it go already! The game was played months ago and Cleveland fans are way over it--you should try doing the same.

You really are going over the top with this and taking it way too personally. It's just a sports team.....no one in the NBA is going to find the cure from cancer--it's only entertainment!

Just back away from the computer, breathe deeply, and calm down. You're going to blow a blood vessel or something........:ignite:
