The clips themselves are not .rar files; RAR is an archive format similar to .zip/a compressed folder. It compresses the file(s) within to save on space for ease of sharing and transfer. To access the clip within it you must uncompress the RAR. There are a number of tools which will do this. Winrar, http://www.rarlab.com/ is the original program (I believe) and can be used perpetually (If you put up with reminders to buy the product). Winrar can make RAR archives as well as extract them. Another option is to use 7-Zip, http://www.7-zip.org/ which can extract RAR archives but not create them.
