To elah........
Elah raises a good point... and I know where it's coming from having recieved many of your emails... and if no one minds, because I've been waylayed lately, I'll answer them here as I have limited "up" time at the 'puter--
I wasn't elusive in my private answers back to anyone because I honestly have NO clue as to what they seek now for mods. It was different when it first started and I got on board. I know they try to keep everyone's best interest at heart.
To offer more- I agree with the emails: if Mod's are going to post info, they should know what they speak of- I mean, who could argue that? And if that info is wrong- who's going to remove it and watch out for others? Again- I agree.
There should be some guidelines/qualifications/experience levels in my opinion (no disrespect to any mods here).... and not just their (or my) word for it- some pictures or proof of some type... some history to them, whatever.. otherwise I could claim I climbed Mount Everest naked packing only Ring-Dings for food and then tickled Pamela Lee, who was sitting there in stocks with six naked dorm girls all waiting for me- ho hum- and it would be taken as fact (making me the greatest mod on Earth to some I suppose, but not to me-because it's bull and doesn't help anyone at all, and I'd freeze my brass knookies off)...
Without that knowledge assurance, in my opinion- you can have no trust, and I think that's what its all about here, right? Someone comes here for advice or a how-to. They look up to another for help. If you cannot help others along, pass them to someone who can. The idea is to share it if you're good at it -OR unique at it- not be "titled" for it and appear unapproachable. If given the wrong answer in a post- someone gets hurt in some fashion mentally or physically. Who can you turn to for solid advice then?
Outside the TMF, in the tickling/bondage scene- it seems that everyone is an overnight "expert". Yet look at what they accomplish in photo proof or adventure details and it tells you a very different story. They may get instant acknowledgement for false deeds- but that's it. NO depth. The real proof is in the pudding- and when you meet them, right? Haven't any of you met others who bragged up a storm- only to be so disappointed in their ability that you wished you were anywhere but there?
Here it's different and should remain that way. We wish to share the truths, as well as the bad points... or a simple "duh, I dunno- ya got me on dat one, bub!"... from people who actually know... for example in my own approach- to exchange fantasy in some places for total reality... so that anyone and everyone can enjoy their times with a feather to it's max- just like "the Pro's" do it 😉
But that brings us back to guidelines and knowledge. Not everyone is an expert on everything. For example, anyone who's ever eaten one of my Magic Marmelade Marble Cakes knows NEVER to ask me for any baking secrets if they wish to keep any of their relatives alive and healthy. That's also why I don't post about it. On my lawyer's advice.
Another Example: There was MISinformation given out in a recent thread. This was not done on purpose, but in a helpful fashion. Even though I had posted many times about the subject, even here on the TMF, people didn't wait to get the real info. Others then added to it, pretending they had such "experiences" when it's obvious to someone like me that they were merely creating fiction for the reader's pleasures (or for their boasting?). Thats like throwing gasoline on a fire. Sadly, someone read it, tried it, and wound up feeling the heat from that fire.
In my opinion? A mod should know the difference AND then try to stop that- IF they have the power to do so.
Every mod I know (personally, that is) actually looks out for all of you, as do I... as best I can- it's not an ego thing... we love to see people reach out and move forward, help them along and to avoid the many mistakes we may have fallen prey to along the route... some of us perhaps are considered among the best at what we do, others are known as "firsts" in their fields- all have something to offer. The last thing we ever want to hear is that something went wrong based on what we told them. I love to see and hear the smiles, not the frustration of tickling. There's already enough frustration in this world... believe me.
Those are my thoughts on what a mod should be, for what they're worth...
