Hello everyone,
I've started experimenting with high definition video. Unfortunately, it looks like I won't be able to work with the footage in its original format, which is .mts. The videos are just too big and heavy to edit with my computer. So I'd like to convert them to regular DV-AVI files, which are 720x480 interlaced AVI files. I could then use them in Premiere 6.5, which I've been using for several years now. Or I could always try using Premiere Elements 7. In either case, all I want is to be able to use the same video format I'm used to. What software can I use to do this? Of course, since the proportions of HD are quite different from DV-AVI, this should be taken into account by the software, resulting in black bands at the top and at the bottom of the video, like a widescreen movie. Otherwise the picture would look very weird indeed. Thank you for your help.
