I am absolutely morally DISGUSTED!!!!

Be a shame if those fools who ordered that to happen "disappeared".

The bank that did that is morally "bankrupt" (No pun intended). If they were only going to throw the food away, what loss would it have been to them to allow starving people to have much needed food.

Just awful!

Apparently it has a happy-ish ending:

Golden Harvest’s executive director, Travis McNeal, said Wednesday the groceries filled two trash bins and were stored overnight at a warehouse of Thompson Building and Wrecking, the company hired by the property owner for disposal.
Hiram Thompson, the president of Thompson Building and Wrecking, called Golden Harvest on Wednesday morning, McNeal said. Thompson had crews sort perishable from nonperishable items.
Golden Harvest trucks are expected to pick up the goods. They will be sorted and inspected before they are distributed to the hungry.

Jeff, thank you for posting that. I'm glad to know that those in need will be aided.

First off thank you for sharing that. Second...

There are people in our country starving in the street and these selfish assholes think that this is acceptable!! For the love of God do your part as Americans!! Hell, America doesn't want it? I'm sure there's tons of impoverished nations filled with starving children and homeless that could use it!! PICK ONE!! IT'S not even about corporate rights or any political/economic issues! It's called acting like RESPONSIBLE FUCKING HUMAN BEINGS!!!

It's funny how people are still surprised when terrible things like this happen.

Oh, trust me this isn't being surprised that terrible things happen. I've read a lot of shit that human history has done and continues to do. This isn't surprise that this happened its just sheer boiling anger! I may not be surprised that bad things still happen but I'm not going to act like it doesn't make me sick to my core when I read something this offensive!

What saddens me is, I'm not at all surprised. At least, as Jeff pointed out, much of this food will be distributed to those in need.

Although the story is about throwing away tons of food that could've fed the poor, there is another story that very few will see. If people really knew the truth about banking, lending, and foreclosure processes, that would be enough for the masses to pull down the "justice" and banking systems brick by brick! All of it is a scam and sham perpetrated on the masses; it would take me several hours to break it down to terms that all can understand, but then you'd be ready to commit homicide on a bunch of lawyers that are getting fat at the expense of putting people on the street. The corporate system is like one giant compassionless psychopath.........the banks are at the tip of the iceberg, but the lawyers are underneath the surface all the way to the bottom!

Sun Trust had no right nor any ability to prosecute a foreclosure action in the first place, plain and simple. Actually if I broke down who was really foreclosing on people's property (residential and commercial), you'd be shocked, appalled, and thoroughly disgusted! I've been in the trenches for almost three years on the ground levels of this; I know what I'm talking about, but society has been so well trained and indoctrinated in propaganda it's almost impossible to properly educate folks about what's really going on......

Now as soon as the masses wake up to the truth about foreclosure, it'll be bedlam in the friggin' streets, trust me!

Do not forget the bureaucrats("the working-class"), kis...

The "redistribution" of food to poor people was the bank kissing ass to the Community Reinvestment Act regulators, and the company that "voluntarily"(redistributed goods); probably has commercial demand-deposits with that bank, so the bank hopes the increase of their "not-for-profit action" will artificially increase demand for their products and services(and, the bank can deduct their assets(the "free" food with corporate tax deductions)). And the "not-for-profit" company action will pay off commercial credit and/or banknotes, or to in increase the balances in their operating/general demand-deposit accounts due to future demand.

That is not free-market, but manipulation and coercion... Unless, the company that redistributed the food is not associated with the fractional-reserve banking firm that assumed the assets of the failed corporation. That would be a different synopsis...

I like this response. I find I don't really get sick about it, I just kinda shake my head. I've pretty much already lost all faith in humanity at this point. lol

Ah... you know, I've never thought about my lack of reaction to these situations as a terrible thing, really. But it's true, apathy is a terrible thing, and far too many people appear to be desensitized to a lot of negative things in the world, including myself.

But, yes, at least everything worked out to a degree.

Humanity should not be one collective thought or observation though. The present does not always represent the future. We can only estimate growth or collapse, and those effects are only predetermined(or, theorized) by past observations and how we "determine and value"(analysis and personal opinion) of those effects. Human(psychology/sociology/political/economic, as examples) science is indefinite because we cannot calculate "progression" or "regression" into one singularity(pure-and-perfect, collected - objective and subjective macro foresight), in which it becomes a point to strive for, because we are all just subjective thinkers only! The "pure-and-perfect" is reserved for death or 'God(s)'... Unless, biological immortality is possible; in that case, way to go 'Highlander'. 😛

Reading that story just made me sick to my stomach. why not aid the people in need and do some good rather then throwing it all away and watching everyone suffer. Its NOT all about turning a profit!!! people need to understand this esp the big banks!

It's tough to take a story seriously from somebody who calls himself Justin "Filthy Liberal Scum" Rosario. Clearly the author has a chip on his shoulder against corporations and banks specifically. Probably one of those would-be occupiers of Wall St.

I have no problem taking him seriously at all and I don't care what he calls himself......the question is.....did the bank throw out perfectly good food that could've feed homeless and hungry people or did they not?? I can go as far as ask upon who's authority did the bank have to do this in the first place (especially since I know how the real game is played behind the scenes) to evict the business owner?

Banks are scum.....and lawyers are much lower on the predatory food chain IMHO!

I don't care if he occupies Wall Street, main street, or my street......wrong is wrong, plain and simple.

Don't kid yourself. Like beauty, right and wrong are in the eye of the beholder. It's a matter of personal opinion and by no means etched in stone.

In my opinion, I don't believe we're getting the full story here. Guys like this Justin Rosario are long embittered towards banks and corporations, completely incapable of presenting facts outside of a political bias and an extremely lop-sided one at that.

Plain and simple.

No one's kidding themselves, at least not me.

I see a photo of tons on food on the ground with a line of people that could've benefited from said tons of food on the ground. Now it could be a big old photoshop for all I know. But if that food on the ground is real, then the story tells itself without the author saying a word.

But since he has liberal tendencies, let's make a political argument out of it because politics make all the difference to homeless and/or hungry people. Let's ignore the big pink elephant in the living room.......actually in this instance, big pink elephant's entire family is in for a visit, but since the author is liberal it's all just a sham.........

Yeah, that's the ticket.....

And you're not getting the entire story either....because the bank did not have standing to foreclose in the first place. They evicted the owner unlawfully then took the food and threw it out as garbage while hungry poor people watched.

No one has the stones to tell the entire story, but at least someone had the guts to show that the bank shows no mercy and compassion to anyone, not even the homeless and hungry. May all involved roast in hell like a chicken at Boston Market for what they've done!

Disgusting. That's the only word for the situation under discussion.

Has anyone stopped to think for a second ... and maybe consider it's a food safety issue?

The bank was doing something I call "CYA" in my line of work: Cover Yo Azz!!

If one, just one of those poor, broke, homeless beggars got sick from eating that old out-of-date food, who do you think they would go after?!?
(BTW, even canned food has an expiration date)

Yeah, that's right, the one who gave it to them + the BANK!
Who has all the $$$ in the world , amIright?!?!?!?!

Banks are not stupid. They want to stay out of court.
This story is designed to pull at your uninformed, emotional heart-strings.

Congrats peeps.... you fell for it!!!
Hook! Line!!! and Sinker!!!

Really?? Seriously??

There are plenty of restaurants and businesses that give away food every day; they aren't being sued by homeless people either......they are being fed and vital food and resources aren't being wasted.

It's not just about emotional heart strings, it's also about practicality. Those folks were ready to get whatever they could to feed themselves and families. These are hard times; if homeless people are willing to eat from garbage cans, I'm sure they wouldn't have a problem getting "questionable" items from a foreclosed grocery store.

It's not like the store was foreclosed six months ago; it was recent and most if not all the products on the shelves should have been current.

At the end of the day, the bank didn't give a shit about the store owner and they certainly didn't care about a bunch of homeless "beggars" as you call them. Most of these "beggars" are either struggling with mental illness, constant unemployment or even working 40 hours/week at $8.00 an hour. These beggars have families to feed, they're not just unproductive bums on the street looking for handouts from a foreclosed grocery store.

I don't know about you, but I can certainly have compassion for a bunch of beggars because there but for the grace of God go I.....
