I need help with a virus

For a while now I've had this virus on my system which was only popping up anytime I got on the internet. It can be found on my machine under WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/mscGNT.dll And crazy thing is when I look for it on google or symantec there is nothing. So, anyone have a clue what I can do about this?

What alerted you to the fact that this particular file is a virus/contains one? If you are positive it is one, the file itself can likely be removed by going into safe mode and either deleting it or renaming it so as to render it harmless. However, if this is a clever virus/piece of spyware like VX2, it will re-replicate (As the thing might have multiple parts).

First, upload the suspicious file to http://virusscan.jotti.org. This service can identify almost any virus by using multiple scanners.

If it tells you the file is infected, update your antivirus software and do a full system scan, preferably in Safe Mode. You can also get a second-opinion online scan here: http://housecall.trendmicro.com
