So I'm not sure if there's any fellow DMs in here, (The dice rolling kind, not the ropes and feathers kind.) but I need some help! For those of you who don't know, or were misinformed a few decades ago, Dungeons and Dragons is a pen and paper Role Playing Game with a player driven story. Think of it like a board game where one guy makes the world they play in. I'm a few sessions in and I seem to be having trouble thinking of where to go next.
The world I've built takes place after a war that results in an empire of necromancers rising to power. All healing magic has been outlawed and has forced all healers into hiding. After some Deus ex Dungeon Master, my party has cleared out the catacombs leading to a governor who is a healer apologist. Their grand scheme to overthrow the empire. I know that the major hooks I have prepared are:
The governor will give them a map outlining where all the dragon nests are that the necromancers used to beat the healers.
There's a grand inquisitor for the empire who has been hunting down the remaining healers.
Upon convincing the governor of his safety, his hometown will become the main base of the heroes for their quest.
They've met a strange knight named Oswald who they've found out is a chosen knight of the god of dragons, of whom he has been failing his quest to serve.
(And for those of you more familiar with the art of DMing) I have extremely over-rewarded my party. Essentially giving them another level's worth of power.
So I know you all are a bunch of creative folk. How about we all brainstorm here for ways to carry this story forward? I don't want game day to come along and have nothing to throw at the party.
