First, I would try to get your GED if you haven't. And hey, slinging burgers at McD's or the like may not be very glamourous, but my roomate in college started working the one his Dad managed. One year after he graduated, he was accepted at Hamburger U! He now manages a factory in Wisconsin.
The take home: When just starting out, NO JOB is too low. The suggesiotns above are all good. I would reccomend the following
(1) Sit down in zero distraction location (NO TV, Radio, PC, etc.) Think about what you are good at and what you enjoy doing.
(2) Can any of these become something that you can turn into a carreer? If so, how do you get there?
(3) Figure out a REALISTIC plan on how to get there
That is what I did when I had to resign from a job a loved. Now, I have the best job I could ever imagine, doing what I wanted to do. It took work, planning and some sacrefice to get here, but ti was worth it. You may need to work doing something else until you are able to get there, but if you know the 'why', you can do any 'how".
Success is a journey, not a destination. But you need to find the right roadmap to get there. Look around. See what others are doing. Think if it is somethng you can do.
PM me and I can give you more concrete stuff...
