My friends, I need help more than ever now. I've just found out something, something that has given me a spark that won't die now. And now I need as much help as possible. I need to find a real career. The problem is I don't have much aside from community college education, I don't think I can get any loans, and hell I work min wage. I need any and all advice in order to over come these obsticles as now the challenge has become even harder than ever. Please, I beg of anyone who can help me with any advice. I can't stand it any longer.

By the way, my interest include technology, video games, music, outdoors, novelty, hands on jobs, ...well that's all I can think of now.

Thank you.

go try to get a job at blizzard entertainment. do nothing and get paid for it 😛.

best advice I've got

If you enjoy the outdoors, have you considered working for REI? I know they pay better than you're making now, and they are one of the best companies to work for due to the way they treat their employees.

www.REI.com

Search harder for scholarships and grants--ANYONE can get financial assistance to further their education. Call Sallie Mae, and speak to an academic advisor at the educational institution that you are looking into attending concerning what is available. You can do it. There are means, you just have to search them out.

Get a quick job in the meantime, and then go to massage therapy school.

It takes from six months to a year to complete. You get to massage women’s feet and charge them $60/hr for it.
I am half way through school and will only massage women when done.
Yes there is enough work to be choosey. I already have three women lined up for once a week massage.

Good luck to ya bra.

I am sure you will do great in anything you choose.

Aloha, John😉

Well, based on the interests you've listed, I wonder if you might enjoy a job hooking up sound systems and things. You said you liked music, technology, the outdoors, and stuff you can do with your hands, and that seems to fit all four. Well... unless the venue is indoors. But you get the idea. I'm not sure on the level of education required, but having community college under your belt should get your foot in the door. It's just a suggestion, but I hope it helps some. n_n

It's not that I don't think i'm capable, I just don't know where to start, how to find information or even have the time to do so. I've been so inactive for the last 2 years. I mean, no one in my family has ever gone to college so i'm basically lost. I'm not sure how to look for specific collages, how to get finiancial aid, how to quallify for any aid or scholoarships. I'm basically lost. I've tried asking my local education institutes but they don't know how to help you if you don't know where you're going specifically.

You could go to Monster.com. There you could look or post your resume. When I posted a resume there a while back, I had a lot of calls and emails for jobs.

Since you like video games try some of their sites. I was on Star Wars Galaxy’s web site and they even had job postings.
I was also at Seahawks web site and they had a job area too. Stuff like working at their warehouse.
Since we have the internet now, just type in what interests you and go for it. There are even some good retail stores to work at. Office Max is always looking. I have a couple friends that work there and they like it. They just stand around and talk about computers and printers with customers and help them find stuff to buy.

As far as schools, I typed in Massage Therapy and found schools close by. I email them and got all the info. This will work for any subject.

You seem like a smart guy, I am sure you can succeed.
I hope this helps. Good luck bra.

Aloha, John.😉

I always support in furthering education. Im in a similar step of life as you, so allow me to lend some advice.
1. If your going to school, know what you're going for. Go to a community college for your basic courses. You at least have some experience from community college, credits are credits.
2. Once you have core classes aside (history, math, bleh) look towards more advanced schools for focused education on what you want to pursue. You like computers and video games. Those are two hot industrys you can get jobs in with some education>
3. Look towards retail....kinda. I work at a video game store, the pay is decent with commission and the job is relatively low stress plus I get some nice discounts. Plus im working in the industry I want to be tied with, so I can make some money while I learn to be an artist ^^.
4. Loans are out there. Establish a good credit history, get a credit card...buy a few things and then pay it off immediately. Private loan companies (Chase, GE, Suntrust) look at your credit history when making a decision to give you money. Having a cosigner might help too.
5. FASFA. Being tied off from your parents income will help, that is my achilles heel right now, but you can get good money from the government. Also keep eyes out for scholarships, grants, and rewards.

You can live the live you want to live 😉 All you have to do is know what you want, know what it takes to get there, and do what has to be done. If you have the will to achieve great things, that will fuel you to accomplish what your heart desires!! Good luck =D

there are...

the most important thing is to find what you enjoy to do...

find a college that you think would best fit your needs, some institutes have programs where your work hours could also count as part of certain clases, make an appointment to talk to a counselor, they are the best fountain of information for federal aide, grant scholarships and types of loans...Never take a loan unless you really need it and have a way of paying back...

As for your current work, some companies have growing opportunities where employees can move up, you might want look into that...

Most local college/universities should have either career guidance counselors or such. Many have different exams you can take that can guide you to good career options. I think there are some you can do online that I have read/heard about. I'll look for them and PM you with the links...
