And she shall be my fluffy! Heh, okay, long story made short, after moving with my girlfriend (and hopefully future bride to be) from New York City to near Ithaca, and the both of us getting an awesome home, and getting a better job for myself, AND finally starting to make more money, AND finally starting to save/invest money instead of having to spend it on bills, well, WE GOT A POOCHIE! ^_^

I don't have the ability to upload pictures yet but she's a black and white rough collie and just a pup! I'm proud to say we saved her as she was next in line for the gas chamber at the nearest animal shelter. Anywho, we love her to PIECES and she's just ADORABLE! We've decided to call her Fluffy (due to my love of feathers). She's also ironically very well behaved as so far we haven't had a single accident with her (she also loves to sleep with us at the foot of the bed [we like to think she's trying to guard her mommies]).

Since our home is kinda big (it's a refurbished farm home [thankfully not located near any other farms as I hate the smell of manure]) we were thinking of rescuing one other dog at the shelter (a female puppy golden retriever). What do you all think? Would a golden retriever make a good companion/friend for Fluffy?

Golden retrievers usually have very good temperaments, so quite possibly! However, some dogs are oddly not ok with other dogs (like my current one) The good news is honestly that's kinda rare so if you have established shes cool with other dogs it could be a win. I would be equally concerned about the potential quirks of the new dog as my first dog came from the spca and while we loved him to death he chewed on everything!!! Good luck !

Yup, she's quite easy to train. She's so adorable and best of all barely bites on anything! It's kind of amazing actually considering we got her at a animal shelter. From the what the lady at the shelter told us, the poor thing was found by the dog catcher wandering the streets cold, lonely, and half-starved/dehydrated! In short, someone abandoned her instead of finding a home for her. UNFORGIVABLE!

Heh, and yes, my girlfriend and I named her fluffy. Cause I'm very feather ticklish. On a related note though, we're thinking of adopting that female golden retriever as well. We have time before we need to make a decision but we don't want fluffy to be lonely while we're gone in the home and we think another poochie friend would be nice for her. We're concerned though that Fluffy won't tolerate another doggie in the home but from what the shelter lady told us Fluffy often played with the golden retriever pup so this may very well work out for us.

Thanks for the good luck wishes Rothgar. I probably never told you this but my girlfriend and I's Pathfinder Roleplaying Game group has a guy in it who always plays a male Barbarian called Rothgar! It's really hilarious because whenever our DM has a NPC ask us who we are, we all shout back "NOOOO! DON'T SAY IT!", while Dale (aka Rothgar's player) has Rothgar proudly yell out, "I AM ROTHGAR! EATER OF CATS! SLAYER OF GOBLINS! SQUASHER OF TINY BUGS! DESTROYER OF CHAIRS! DRINKER OF ALE! etc etc. Also, whenever Rothgar accomplishes something, he adds a new title to his list related to that accomplishment. It's totally funny. ^_~
