I picked up my dog's ashes today and the staff at the vet's office gave me this.

Rainbow Bridge.

Just this side of heaven is a place called the Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies, that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for our all our special friends so they can run and play together. There are plenty of food, water and sunshine. And our friends are warm and comfortable. All of the animals who have been ill and old are restored to health and vigour; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing -they each miss someone very special to them who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day but the day comes when on suddenly stops and looks up into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver.

Suddenly he begins to run from the group. Flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain on your face, your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together................................

Somehow I don't feel so bad now. I am still greiving heavely, but I don't feel as bad as I did.

awwww TS....I'm glad you posted this. it makes me happy that your dog and my cat have a great place to live.

AWWW Ticklishscribe, thank you so much for sharing that with us :bouncybou That was absolutely beautiful,I am starting to have tears in my eyes!

I wanted to share this Poem that was giving to me when I was grieiving from my own loss of my beloved Westie that had been my Everything.

treat me kindly, my beloved master, for no heart in the world is more greteful for kindness than the loving heart of me. Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I lick your hand between the blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me do. Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footsteps fall upon my waiting ear. When it is cold and wet, please take me inside, for I am now a domesticated animal, no longer used to bitter elements. And I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth. though had you no home, I would rather follow yu through ice and snow than to rest upon the softest pillow in the warmest home in all the land, for you are my god, and I am yyour devoted worshiper. Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for although I should not reproach you were it dry, I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst. Feed me clean food, that I may be well, to romp and play and do your bidding,to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life should your life be indanger And, beloved master, should the Great Master see fit to deprive me of my health and sight, do not turn me away from you. Rather hod me gently in your arms as skilled hands grant me the merciful boon of eternal rest...and I will leave you kowing with the last breath I draw, my fate was ever safest in your hands.

I've had dogs in my life that I;d love to see and hold again someday. My closest friend and confidante.

Great poem, TH.

I find it curious how the usage of the rainbow bridge is used, cuz the concept of the rainbow bridge is a key aspect in norse mythology(the rainbow bridge connects midgar(the human\earth realm) to asgard which is where the Gods lived. Good poem, just i find it interesting.

thanks for sharing that scribe, i could have used something like that last year when i finally had to put down my 15 year old samoyed shepherd mix. im hoping i will have as many enjoyable years with my new alaskan malamute puppy.

I've seen this before but always love it.

XOXO
