Then you know they got a hell of a band. Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield, The Righteous Brothers. Bill Medley is still with us but sadly Bobby died November 5, 2003 from a cocaine induced heart attack. This thread is a place to remember artists who left us far too soon.

Lead vocalist #1: Freddie Mercury
Lead Vocalist #2: Michael Jackson

Bass guitar #1 (solid, expressive funk rhythms): James Jamerson
Bass guitar #2: (improvised melodic lines): John Entwistle

Drums: Keith Moon and Bonzo. Together. On one drum kit.

Lead Guitar: Dimebag Darrell and Jimi Hendrix.

I'm sure there are others whose place is guaranteed 🙂

Otis Redding was a Soul singer but is included here. A great artist. He died at age 24 in a plane crash December 9, 1967, just days after recording Sittin' On The Dock of The Bay.

Duane Allman was a co-founder of The Allman Brothers Band and its driving force. He died at 24 October 29, 1971, from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident.

Ronnie Van Zant was 29 when he died. On October 20, 1977 a Convair CV-300 airplane carrying the Lynyrd Skynyrd Band crashed near Gillsburg Mississippi. Band members Van Zant and Steve and Cassie Gaines died. Also killed was assistant road manager Dean Kilpatrick, pilot Walter McCreary and co-pilot William Gray.

A few days later Ronnie was laid to rest in Orange Park Florida. On June 29 2000, some ghouls broke into his tomb, carried the casket outside and dropped it on the ground. He was moved to a more secure location in Jacksonville and rests there today.

Dan Peek was a co-founder of the soft rock-folk band America. He struggled with alcohol and drugs, and left the band in 1977. Dan died in his sleep July 24 2011 at age 60.

Bobby Darin suffered from rheumatic fever as a child, which damaged his heart. On December 19 1973 he underwent surgery at Cedar-Sinai Medical Center to have two damaged heart valves replaced. He died the next day, having never regained consciousness. Bobby Darin was 37.

Rock 'n' Roll is in the thread title, but this is a place to remember any musician - singer who left us too soon.

Here's how to embed Youtube videos. Look under the video and click 'share' then click 'embed'. Be sure you check the 'use old embed code' option, (the new code won't work on the forum,) then just copy the code and paste it into your post. Nothing to it. 🙂
