Alex,
As I had posted in another thread, this woman approached me at a karaoke bar in SF last Sunday. She is affiliated with Star Search and is showcasing local singers. Unfortunately, I am not YET a local. I am keeping in touch with her via e-mail as per her request and will meet up with her when I make my move.

Just be very careful if she asks for money, Jen. They ahd a big expo on the fact atht there are TONS of people out there getting rich by playing with those who are seeking an enetertainment career. You definitely have talent. Just don't let anyone take advantage.

I know all about the money grubbers, having spent many years in the NYC theater circuit. I had an agent in NYC at the time and she never asked for money upfront. I am well aware of how the legit agents work.
Julie was great and we even sang together. She explained to me that she was showcasing people at The Mint and because of her affiliation with Star Search, would have others from the show come and see the showcases.
She knows I am a student and have no money. LOL
