My younger daughter (17) just phoned me to tell me her term's report (11th grade of 13). It's the best she ever had, almost all A's! From the 12th grade on, the students have to pick 2 main subjects for intensive training, and she picked maths and chemistry. This will probably influence her university choice as well, so our family might have another scientist soon! 🙂

My older daughter (22) is just preparing for her first state exam (pharmacology), and she's quite successful, too. I'm so proud of my daughters! My school marks were never that good, but my former wife was an A student, so it's probably her genes.

Reminds me of an old joke: The father is so proud of his son's good marks. "He must have got his intelligence from me!", he brags. His wife retorts dryly: "Yeah, probably, because I've still got mine..." 😀

Maybe they got the brains from her, but those sparkling personalities? That's all you, Hal😀

Congratulations, Hal. You should be very proud of them both. 😀

Thanks, Mil, I certainly am!

SeanMan, what the heck gave you the impression of me being a "sparkling personality"? I deny everything and want to talk to my lawyers! 😉 😀 😀 😀

Congratulations...

I envy you. My greatest wish in life is for my daughters success in all things.

May your prosperity continue and they bring you more happiness with each achievement.

That is wonderful Hal, old friend. I was just happy that my 18 year old managed to graduate on time....

Hal that is AWESOME

When news like that happens it makes being a parent, and all the sacrifices and things you've dealt with throughout the years, worthwhile. Good luck for you and them in the future.

Ray.. lol some of Us( like yours truly) did the "5 yr plan" in High School, but made up for it later on in Uni?
Congrats btw! 😉

Hal that's so cool! You must've done it just right! :smilelove

I love it when daddies are proud and pleased as punch, instead of the way some are always trying to control & criticize.

Sometimes being a Daddy is the best feeling in the world. Kudos, Hal. I share your pride.

Thanks for all your kind comments, folks, greatly appreciated. I didn't have much influence on my daughters' developments though, to be honest. My wife and I parted when the kids were 11 and 6, and as I was abroad (my job demanded it) so frequently, I gave her full custody on the condition that there won't be any restrictions for seeing my kids whenever I wanted. Our divorce was a matter of five minutes, and we never quarreled in the presence of the kids. That was all I could do for them, and they got over it quite well.

However, I used what little influence I had to raise them with an open mind towards other cultures, and I shared my love for reading books with them. I guess that helped quite a bit with their education. They grew up with very little, carefully selected TV consumption. The first remote control function I showed them was the "off" button. And both my wife and I showed them lots of alternatives to do. IMO, that was good for them, too. They never needed any psycho-medication, and they stayed away from drugs.

Congrats, Hal. You must be very proud. Hopefully, my daughters will have that success when the time comes.

Besides, give em' a tickle for the good work!!😛
