I'm under siege: the "hacktool.flooder" virus!!

I got infected with a computer virus some time ago disguised as a Super Mario Bros 2 game rom....even Norton Utilities cant get rid of it. It refuses to be deleted, renamed or even moved from its current location on my hard drive...HELP!!!

O.K. probably the main reason you can't delete it, rename it, move it, ect. is that it is running. Try running your computer in 'safe mode'. When your computer is booting up, press F8 (your supposed to do it just as windows starts to load, but I just start pressing when the thing turns on and keep pressing) This loads up only neccessary programs at start up. Hopefully this will include the virus.

If this doesn't work your going to need to make a Dos boot disk.

Making a boot-disk is by far the best way to get rid of the virus. The important thing is, of course, to make the disk on a non-infested PC. Just have a friend create a bootable medium, floppy or CDROM, plus a dos-runnable version of the most up-to-date virus-scanner you can find. Boot by removable medium, start up the virus-scanner and voila.
Of course, your virus scanner might just be out-dated. Most scanners (if not all) scan the memory and running processes, not just drivespace, so they should detect and kill the virus even if it's running. Have you updated it recently?

No problem. That same problem was on "The ScreenSavers" a couple of weeks ago.
