Important Alert 4 TK Site Operators & Enthusiats

This is a common sense alert. Because of its nature (inflamatory nature if the response from AMT's angry youth is any measure) I prescreened it with TMF personnel who did not oppose my posting it. The thoughts/opinions expressed here are mine alone, and flow from an encounter I had on the internet 15 months ago, ie before 9/11, but which will not be disclosed here. A secondary purpose would be to hook up with anyone who runs a TK internet enterprise who has had similar encounters, for the purpose of sharing information, and doing the right thing. I run the site known as hysterical squealing.

Odd Email -

Repeatedly I've received emails which are neither hate mail nor spam, but are subdued friendly messages saying nothing more than

"Hello.

So tell me exactly where you are in the world.

Joe"

Or slight variations. I don't respond but did succeed in identifying where in Europe this mail is coming from. What do I think these emails are? I think they are people, possibly religious fanatics from abroad seeking to establish lines of communications with what they believe are devil inspired activities, possibly for targeting purposes. I think they may justify to themselves the excitement they find in our community, as sinful but necessary for the greater good of defeating the devil. There is more to this. I will exchange information with those I know; who I've chatted with in the past. Am I paranoid? Areenactor at AMT jokes: "just because you are paranoid does not mean people are not out to get you". I hope that's all it is, I mean my own personal paranoia.

My Opinion- The anniversary of 9/11 is coming, possibly an invasion of Iraq, a huge country. Tickle fetish or not, I'm American, and America is at war with an enemy whose goal it is to kill Americans, (and kill their supporters) an enemy who has shown themselves willing to stop at nothing to kill Americans, because of their hatred of freedoms like this we enjoy. But the flag will continue to fly at my site, not because I am a fanatic nationalist, but because it is the symbol of democracy. Symbolic of a human system better than anything else I've seen around the world, and I have BEEN around it. My opinion is that we should be smart and alert about who we chat with, exchange email with, who we help and how we help them, particularly people we do not know over the internet. What events we go to, where they are announced, what information we give out and who we provide it to, is just something to think about. Stay on top of events with Yahoo news etc. If you have a site exposed to the internet and have received peculiar mail, invitations, requests to use your business account, lets compare, notes. Or please, tell me
I' m full of shit, but i probably wont respond. Some of it is just con artists but some is serious. I had a brush with this before, at a location inside the TK community where the individual abroad calmly expressed curiosity about my personal contacts with Satan.

A good point,

and one that deserves attention. Bin Laden and his cronies are not simple fertilizer bomb type terrorists. They have proven themselves intelligent and capable adversaries, and the nature of sites such as this would be easy to exploit - meaning, the fact that we are very open on the web but relatively secretive about the TMF goings on in real life. This open/closed dichotomy is ideal for someone working to open communication in this country - discretion in the real world is almost assured, yet no one will question making contact via the net. A point worth considering, and I suspect we will all be a bit more vigilant in our future dealings. Thanks for the heads up, and good thinking.
