When e-mail is deleted from your computer, is there anyway it can be retrieved by anyone?

Also Can e-mail sent and received using HOT MAIL that is deleted, be retrieved by anyone.

I know that info is forever imprinted in hard drives but does this hold true using HotMail?

Any info will be apprieciated.

Thanks.

Thanks UnclSteve...

...so I take it by you sending me that link that the answer is Yes, even though you deleted e-mail, even in hotmail, that it is still left on your hard drive.?

Thanks for the info.

About hotmail

If you are using hotmail, click on the "Public/shared computer (Increased security)." option. This will delete all temporary files from your computer when you log off of hotmail. Here is what hotmail says about it.

"The Hotmail sign in option for increased security at shared computers is designed for users who sign in from libraries, schools, or Internet cafes. This sign in option expires pages from the browser's cache when you sign out of your account. This means that as long as you sign out, the pages you visited while in Hotmail cannot be viewed by other users of a shared computer. To use this feature, you must have a browser (Netscape or IE) that is version 3.0 or higher. The Increased Security feature is not currently supported in IE for the Macintosh or on MSN Calendar."

Thanks guitman

...ok, thanks my friend. Maybe I need to elaborate a bit here somewhat. Here is an example. Could someone take someones computer somewhere and find out what e-mails were sent and or received from that computer even though those mails were deleted from Hotmail?

Your suggestion may work from mails in hotmail from Now on, but what about up until now?

A close friend of mine is worried that her husband will be able to tell what was or is in her hotmail e-mails and other things in the computer even though she deleted it all.

Data retrieval ...

is fine art...and an expensive one. The equipment needed to even try for most buried disc data would run in the $200+ an hour range, and that's with no guarantees. Try this, instead...do a search on one of the bigger engines, Google or whatever, using your screenname, regular name and any other handle you may go by...I think that will scare you enough without worrying about what's floating around the HD....lol. Thanks again to all who responded.

Sincerely,
