You can no longer view any clips purchased from realtickling and their related stores due to the platform specific DRM they are using. DO NOT TRY TO PURCHASE THEM IF YOU ARE USING A MAC, INCLUDING iMacs and all related macintosh and apple computers. They will not work with the Windows Media format they have chosen to use. I've tested it and it does not work.

I spent a lot of money on their videos and it's a shame I won't be spending anymore. But, that wasn't my choice. Just warning my fellow mac users...

hey hi. i'm really sorry to hear they are not working for you and your MAC. but to be honest, i'm not sure that is the case with all MACs and and MAC operating systems.... so in an effort to finding a solution, i'd like to ask everyone reading this that runs MAC...

1) Have you been able to view our drm (WMV) clips from clips4sale on your Macintosh computer? Anyone? Has Anyone?

Here is some info that might be of assistance:

If you're using a non Windows PC - Make sure it supports Windows Media player. The current list is: MAC 8.1- OS X, Solaris, Pocket PC, Palm, Handheld PC, and all Microsoft Windows OS’s.

Downloads for Mac computers...
Windows Media Player 7.1 for Macintosh (OS 9 only) http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/mac71.aspx

Internet Explorer Version 5.1.7 for Mac http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...85-13b4-4d7f-a9c0-9366f2366e31&displaylang=en

This is what I was told today from the drm encoding people:

Some people with Macs can view the files and others can't. Why some can and others can't, we don't know.

The user needs to have an application that can open .wmv files, like Windows Media Player or VLC and they need to set that app to be the default app for that file type.

Most likely, the user of the mac tried to open a .wmv in iTunes once and clicked the "always use iTunes for this filetype" before they found out it wouldn't work. Install the right software and set the right setting in it, and all should be well.

TIB, as i explained to your tech support people, that is not correct. From my own contacts inside microsoft, it is clear that their DRM technology is windows specific and they have no plans to make it cross compatible. How very microslothian of them.

I can tell you why they won't play on macs is because of the drm technology. DRM shouldn't make it tough on end users, just on the pirates. I'm all for copyright protection believe me, but this is a very clumsy solution.

ok, thanks for the feedback.

MAC users beware of WMV files that have drm technology.

Just to add two cents: I have the same problem (although not with your clips, another company's).

Oh well, WMV for Macs blows goats anyway ... gee, wonder why.
